Best way to workout abs for hypertrophy

Apart from heavy compounds, how should I go about training my abs?
I'm thinking right now there's 2 main ways. Both ways I'll do it at the end of my workouts after my core has already done some work.
>Method 1
Training them with bodyweight or very light weight, doing as many reps as possible and working them daily.
This seems like the most common approach, most abs work I see is done this way, bodyweight and you go for as long as you can and do 3/4 sets of it, everyday. Since core recovers quickly this seems good.
>Method 2
Train them like a normal muscle, as much weight as possible within hypertrophy range, so something like 3/4 sets of 12-16 reps. Work them out about 3 or 4 times a week.

The main exercises I as thinking for both would be one Leg Raises, two Crunches (on decline bench), and some work for the serratus don't know many good ones for this yet. Don't want to 6 meme ab exercises every workout, they're already not my favorite muscle to train

Abs are made in the kitchen. You don't want to train them directly as they will be weakened for future compound lifts, resulting in less core stability and increased risk of injury.

I don't need validation from dyels such as yourself who don't know abs are made in the kitchen.

This is wrong. I've seen too many skinny dudes with no abs
And I don't want basic b***h abs either, I want a thick and impressive six pack

        >You don't want to train them directly as they will be weakened for future compound lifts
Do them after compounds or in a different session entirely

you dont need to be 10% bf to see abs. I'm at 15% and even after eating I see mine.

Train it like any normal muscle and it will grow.

Based quads, chicks love good abs and you have to isolate them, 3 sets at the end of each workout, you'll make it bro

Abs are made in the gym and revealed in the kitchen like every other muscle on your body. Frick you, let my boy do some leg raises

this is just blatantly untrue. Yes, ab definition is just bf%, but you can change the shape and size by working them out

just do crunches lol frick this overcomplicated nerd shit

      don't listen to this moron
if you don't train your abs they will barely show, the weaker and smaller your abs are the leaner you will have to be for them to show if they show at all unless you're flexing them.
I made the mistake of not training abs directly because muh compounds but guess what even high school kids get abs doing crunches at home easily without even lifting weights or tracking their diet meanwhile you spend half of your time worrying about your bodyfat% and having nothing to show for it because your abs are fricking tiny and don't pop out at all

i alternate high/low reps and train abs with weight. Use the cable machine to hit all corners of the abs.

    Here's how to achieve abs
    1. By compounds, be strong on OHP, bench, squats, and DL
    2. Do more weighted chin-ups, pull-ups, and dips
    3. Train abs. The movement/machine is irrelevant You have to feel it burn and DOMS. Try doing 8-30 reps

unironically Yoga, do the ones focusing on core and if you thought you had core strength you will find out you in fact do not.

hanging leg raises, cable crunches and planks, thats all you need

Just do cable crunches and/or decline bench crunches while holding a dumbbell so you can up the weight over time for progressive overload. Keep the rep range between 5-20, go to near failure like any other muscle group, and do it after your compound lifts 2-3 times per week.

If you can find a way to add progressive resistance to leg raises, then feel free to do that as well. Don’t fall into doing 100 crunches or some shit within a single set, at that point it’s 90% aerobic exercise and 10% anaerobic. They’ll still grow but it takes so much more effort and time

leg raises, wood choppers, trophy squats, goblet squats, planks
whichever concentric ab exercise you choose, the hip has to move otherwise it's useless

      >do 3/4 sets of it, everyday. Since core recovers quickly this seems good.
How true is this? Currently only doing ab works on leg day, but since they are involved in all of the big lifts I might as well do some ab exercises everyday.

How about dragon flags? I thought using hips on them is considered cheating...

Also curious about this. Doing the same shit. Core on leg days and not sure I'd do them at the end of a workout every day. I'm already spending a ton of time at the gym on the other days.

Method 1 worked pretty well for me, I think it's the best way because of the high slow:fast twitch fibre ratio in the abs. Just make them burn with high reps and short rests after all work outs and they'll grow. Try like hanging leg raises or ab rollouts superset with as many flutter kicks as you can stomach.
