Yeah when the win cons are bjj shit, no fricking shit. If the win con was pinning or getting in the best position to punch the other's face in, wrestling would win every time.

When the rules are: Submit opponent to win.
        BJJ wins.

When it involves striking like MMA, wrestling wins because it's way better at producing positions for ground and pound.

Doesn't change the fact that in a pure submission grappling match bjj always wins.

This logic is moronic, it's like saying "boxing is better than muay thai" but then I say muay thai beats boxing in striking match and you respond with "muay thai wins in muay thai".

That's the entire point, in striking and grappling one dimensional arts lose to the full package.

BJJ wins in grappling because BJJ is wrestling + ground game.

BJJ completely ignores the standup game, it's hardly complete grappling. BJJgays can't wrestle for shit because not having to contest the top game does that. Complete grappling would include slams and throws which bjj soys about about, because the entire basis classic grappling arts like judo and wrestling was to incapacitate your opponent by putting him on the ground, and if possible in a debilitative fashion.

                > BJJ completely ignores the standup game
Not true, any gym worth it’s salt will practice standing game. Anyone in the higher weight categories will usually base their game off playing top position, and will fight tooth and nail to stay standing and takedown.
                >BJJgays can't wrestle for shit
No gi, especially with ADCC rule set, is incorporating more and more wrestling. Of course BJJ gays will lose to wrestlers in pure wrestling, because they’re not specialised in it.
You’re a clown if you can only see the holes in BJJ and not wrestling or judo. None of the arts on their own are complete, but if you train and compete in BJJ you will get the closest due to the rule sets (you can practice judo throws in the gi, and wrestling in no gi).

gordon wasn't even allowed to use leg locks (which would've killed the wrestler immediately) and still won, no guard pulling either so "muh superior standing game" is also complete bullshit

Ever wonder why historically so few grappling systems ever seriously entertained leg locks? Because you voluntarily relinquish control over any other part of your opponent to focus on a single leg. Their upper body and arms are free, and now they're going to hurt you.
Every martial art in history, meant for serious combat, knew this fact.
BJJ was created by a weak homosexual for other weak homosexuals, and their family got crushed by a japanese Judochad and a pro/catch wrestling chad with essentially a basic big brother chicken wing arm lock.

BJJ definitely has it's place in martial arts, if you can reliably arm bar, RNC, triangle and guillotine your opponent you've got a huge advantage when you hit the ground.

Knowing submissions is easy as frick and judo and catch wrestling has those. It's the rest of the methodical ground game that bjj offers.
Except no one actually needs to know the intricacies of getting from position to position anymore. You just smother from half guard, punch them in the face until they get tired and try to turn over, then choke them out.
And to get up, you just turtle like a wrestler and stand up. Craig Jones admits as much.
Playing guard is completely outdated and "submission specialists" rely on their ability to threaten submissions to progress back to neutral position rather than pull hail mary subs that simply stop working against high level competition.

It seems simple at the surface level, but all those submissions need shit loads of refining and experience live to master them.

Even with a blue belt, you can take his back but I guarantee 9 times out of 10 you won't be able to choke him out, you really need to know the in's and outs of counters and how counter them.

                Anonymous

You don't need to refine them, unless you're literally competing in submission grappling. In a fight you should float from one submission to the other, used primarily as threats, mixed in with punches, and sneak a submission when they don't suspect it. This is why wrestling dominates, because the wrestlers can simply maintain or regain dominant position as they please, where bjjgays in mma will struggle to do the same as it's not a sport focus.
So called submission specialists like Charles Oliveria or Diego Lopes use their submissions merely to threaten and then wrestle their way to dominant position again, taking the path of least resistance to find the sub. When a submission isn't in, it's unlikely to get any tighter. Unless the opponent is blatantly quitting, you're not going to choke up on that gilly, you're not going to get that kneebar any tighter. When you have back control and you didn't get the arm slipped under the throat quickly, your chances of getting the sub go down precipitously. Unless you do face punches -> rear naked.

It should be pointed out that we would see a lot more exhausted submissions in MMA if there weren't rounds. Surviving somebody on your back for 3 minutes is a lot easier than getting them off of you. Still, bjj without judo + wrestling is the taekwondo of grappling

I don't think anyone has ever subbed a guy by sticking to his back for 3 minutes. By that point it's pretty much an admission that you can't sub this guy, and you're probably going to gas your legs trying to hang onto the body triangle or whatever.
      >bjj without judo + wrestling is the taekwondo of grappling
      That's a good analogy.

That's not always true. If you're both fresh, theres always the chance the defender gets caught off gaurd. Like you argued before, once a RNC is in, it's in. Some rabbit punches on the temple create openings.
