you know what fricking blows, man? like really fricking sucks? I remember staying up late listening to the episode where he talks about how important that is. i respect him and believe the advice is legit, he backs it up. i went to bed thinking about how that would be a great, positive way to start my day, add some variety to my dead life, it got me kinda happy and giddy about the potential of a little improvement. and I woke up, had completely forgotten about it, got high, had coffee, worked from home for 10 hours, ate like shit, and stayed up again, listening to some other shit I'll forget and not apply. I hadn't remembered he said that until reading that post. I was all into the 'idea' of improving my life in those important, incremental gains, and then just let it slip, maybe unconsciously because I forgot, or because I'm letting myself just rot away. i gotta hang out with some old school friends or something man I've just become a husk

Do it anon, nothing like seeing an old friend and caching up. Its about the small changes and you may have not made the incremental changes yet, but when you do theyll feel twice as good.

I would pay you to stay away from me because that kind of apathy is contagious.
You really need to clean your room anon. Pick a self-improovment habit and stick to that one so you have a win under your belt and then move on. Slowly you'll break down the barriers between you anbd wanting, truly wanting not vaguely wishing, to be better.

You definitely need to identify and isolate the cause of your apathy and nihilism because shit like that can be exaccerbated by a myriad of things, most likely aspects of your work environment or home environment that drain you of doing anything outside your common habits.

Every time I've gone on a vacation and disrupted my typical work-home life, I begin acting like a different person (and am way more social) because I'm surrounded by different people, stimuli, and responsibilities.

Blue light helps regulate your circadian rhythm because before electrical light the only source of it was the sun. This is also why it's reccomendee to put blue light filters on a timer for your PC and phone, because the blue light from them can suppress your feelings of sleepiness. You aren't supposed to go stare into the sun, you're supposed to be outside and get some sun in the morning and again in the evening (when the sunset turns yellow) to help regulate your sleep. There's also some evidence that getting more light can help with some depressive symptoms, especially people with SAD (Seasonal Onset Depression).

His recent episode about alcohol, when comparing the risks of alcohol to cigarettes as carcinogens, he overstated the risks of alcohol by a whole order of magnitude.

        > He pulled up some source that said 1 beer equals 10 cigarettes in terms of carcinogenous effect. He said even if it was like 6-8 cigarettes, you see how bad alcohol is.

Which is strange to me because smokers smoking a pack a day equaling 2 beers and they die way quicker than binge/chronic drinkers (14-24/week)

Just jumping in here, as a gay guy, I would not be surprised at all. I don't listen to his podcast much but have seen enough clips here and there of him. Just his mannerisms and how he presents himself are pretty homo. Not even wishful thinking. Not talking favorably about women AT ALL is pretty telling. I'll say that over the years, many friends figured me out because I never ever talked about girls or girlfriends. Even if you're a straight guy and fricking hate women, you still talk about them or say when one is hot

Idk it's not exactly the talk-about-women podcast.
Also I never talk about women because I'm religious and basically just never go there. I'm not gay, and I think it's pretty likely a lot of men don't do the whole woman analysis thing for similar principles.
