You’re supposed to take off the peel before you boil them. Holy frick how dumb are people asking how to boil eggs

      That's poached eggs, frickface.

You can’t poach an egg you poach the whole chicken

All you gotta do to boil the egg is take off the peel. Easiest way is to freeze the egg first and then chip off the hard frozen peel. Then drop the frozen egg into the boiled water. You dont need to freeze it first but then it melts when you unpeeled it

Make sure to let them cool down in cold water for a bit but yeah that just happens sometimes, I've learned to seethe and deal with it

The exact opposite is true, if you don't want the egg to stick to the shell peel them while they're still hot.

If I cared enough, I could go record a video of me testing both methods and showing that this is absolutely not true.

You don't even need to record it, just go boil 2 eggs and see which one is easier to peel the hot one or the cold one.

If you dump it in cold water for 3-5 mins then peel it's the easiest.
If you leave it longer then it's infinitely harder to peel.

Peeling them hot is easiest, just fricking try it next time you boil eggs, or don't idgaf.

Can't tell if you're trolling or a fricking idiot.
Cold eggs are always easier to peel.

Steaming them in the shell and letting them cool is the easiest way to do it.

    Poach them instead, moron.

I need to be portable. That's the fricking point of a hard boiled egg. It's portable.

Wait, you can't peel a hard boiled egg?
You're an even bigger moron than I originally thought.

Put a teaspoon of salt in the water at the start.

Use older eggs. Fresh eggs are always hard to peel.

    1. Don't store eggs in fridge (too extreme change in heat = more likely to crack during boiling)*
    2. After boiling immediately dump them in freezing water (here the extreme change in heat is a good thing)
    3. Start peeling by cracking them at the bottom where there's this hollow pocket or air/fluid
And don't forget to eat at least 4 every day.

*I hear at the least the US and EU have some different regulations in egg production, so maybe check if room temperature storage is okay in your country. In the EU it is.

      I forgot to add this:

Just after boiling crack them a little and put them in water so it gets between the shell and membrane

Yes, do crack them a bit before dropping them in cooling water

I thought you can put a pin hole at either end and blow through it which will dislodge the shell

You said 8 minutes but you clearly meant 7 minutes and 30 seconds on the dot

Crack the egg before you put it in the water so as it boils, water gets in between the shell and the membrane. Easiest way is to hold a wooden spoon or spatula, hold the egg above it in the same hand and tap the spoon on the bench.

if you don't want to peel it you can also cut it in half and eat with a spoon

I second this, sprinkle some salt on as well and you're golden.

Cool them down immediately in cold water, crack lightly all over the surface and peel. The sudden change in temperature weakens the shell and makes it easier to peel. You want to take off the shell together with the membrane separating it from the egg white.

Also never drop them in hot water, first put the eggs in then heat the water.

Get an egg steamer. Seriously, worked so well i got one that cooks 18 at a time. It takes 5 mins. Peel perfectly. No more pots and water and waiting 10 mins for it to boil then boiling for 15 mins then peeling the egg in half.
    $25.
    egg steamer.
    one of my best investments.

Boil water first, when it's boiling put the eggs in for 6-7 minutes so you don't lose cooking time. Close the pan for some steaming so they cook faster.
After it's done, get all the hot water and wash them with normal water while in the pan, sometimes 1 or 2 will break and leave egg residues, after ur done just let em sit in the cold/normal temperature water for 30 seconds.
Here's the trick to peel them perfectly: Use a spoon, yes, this shit changed my life and it's 100x easier than trying to peel with ur fingers, just crack the bottom or top, get a medium sized hole in the shell then finish with the spoon, it can reach the whole surface of the egg and get it out perfectly.

Let the water get to boil before placing eggs in. If you put them in while water is cold, it does this.

You have to rub it once twice over and pat it counterclockwise on the top while whispering "eggy weggy weg peel easy I beg eggy weg weg" in scottish and bam, the shell peels off in one piece first go.

Make them in a pressure cooker like an instapot. Put them in a basket to keep them off the bottom. Add 1 cup cold water. Pressure cook 2 minutes then do a 15 minute natural release. Perfect hard boiled eggs and they peel easily.
