Holy shit is that why it's called the hack squat? Big if true. Then again, you can't really 'invent' the bench press. It's a natural movement

Older bodybuilders used to do floor press he was the first to actually use a bench

You need to come up with the idea to use a bench, though. Before that you had the flat press and sometimes they would do a press while doing a neck curl, which is very impressive, but neither obviously are as effective as regular bench.

actually, you can. you need the machines (weights, bar, bench) just to do it, and you need the anatomical understanding to maximize efficiency. while there are ancient examples weightlifting as we know it is purely a creation of the 19th century and the machine age in general

And before that presses were only up and down. I mean, really think about it, in what sort of work or life situation do you lie flat on your back and press something up? There are no uses foe this type of stength, pushing up is extremely common in manual labor jobs for example. Also if you stand up and push forward you use so much leverage and bodyweight that it doesn't replicate the bench press' activation of muscles at all.

        >how often do you push forward?
        wow
along with ohp and dips, it's the best pushing movement

The catabolic press is NOT a natural movement and if you do it you want to have sex with men

hackenschmidt and gotch drew the largest gate in history to date in 1911 for a single match

        Manlets detected.
All your gloryhounding wont change the fact that women would rather be with somebody taller than you.

Funny how the sight of someone even slightly superior causes immense frustration in an inferior. They just chimp the frick out subconsciously, and have to let everyone else know.

I want to learn a new language. Which one should I go with? My inner weeb is telling me to do Japanese but I feel like that's not very practical.

its better to learn an easy language because it helps break down the symbolic aliases in the abstract and more fluid for harder languages, learn dutch or spanish

German and dutch are closest to English, though for practical terms, the second most spoken language of your area is best.

      Doesn't matter.
Just consume media and textbooks until it clicks. The catch being that learning Russian or Japanese also means learning a new writing system.

who cares, read them in english
absolutely useless, learn japanese instead to avoid troonylations
I speak russian and don't get why euros and mutts glorify dostoyevsky so much, he's a pretty mid author
I do like crime and punishment

I heard German is relatively easy to learn for someone fluent in English and vice versa. I know some people fluent in both and the problem they have is conflating the two languages.

I spend 45 minutes a day studying German, another 45 studying Russian, then I dedicate 1 hour to meditate and another hour or so to training.
I don't get how people can be so focused, seven languages is ridiculous even for a neet.

Do you think you would make more progress if you focused on one language at a time? In my experience learning two languages at once is very inefficient.

My german has reached the level that I can basically just read stuff with the occasional dictionary look up. I could probably accelerate to full fluency by only doing German you're right but Russian is a much cooler language, I wouldn't want to quit.

Hackenschmidt was a champion in Greco-Roman wrestling as well. I'm sure he had his fair share of rigged matches but there's no doubt that he was an extremely competent wrestler. Back then there was a lot of pride in that world, if you we're going to wrestle professionally, you had to know how to do it for real as well. The World Heavyweight Wrestling Championship is in the same lineage as Frank Gotch and other extremely skilled catch shooters.

Philosophy is the morons academic pursuit, only nebulous questions with no answers, no ultimate goal of understanding - once you know enough to think and live a happy life you don't need more but it's somehow one of the most broad subjects with much more reading than other subjects. All inflated bullshit.

Completely wrong. Moral philosophy is to the sciences what prudence is to the virtues; it is the chief and preceeding knowledge that determines all other knowledge in how it discovers the ought that justifies all persuit.
