Broke ass college student here.

After loans and >lmao rent I'm going to have about $80 fricking dollars to spend on food this month and am wondering what the frick I can even survive on for this price.

I love my meat but it seems apart from cafeteria shit I'm going to be vegetarian for a while.

I need to be spending $3 or less a day to fit my poverty budget AND bulk up what does IST recommend?

40lbs of chicken and 40lbs of rice. Spring time is here so just learn to identify wild carrots and dandelions. Maybe even some button mushrooms if you're lucky, and some mulberries from local parks.

Can't afford chicken that's $3.50 a pound even for frozen where I am. I've considered rice but it has shit micros and I'm not no fricking asian

I don't want beans either that's Hispanic shit and gives me gas, already tried that shit never again

Beans and lentils give me gas and make me bloated. Obviously that's like the first thing that comes to mind I wouldn't be asking if that was feasible for me.

And rice makes me want to hang myself takes too much fricking spices and salt to taste edible and it's like eating plastic after a while

It's complete protein (onions based) and extremely cheap. It also won't kill you.

Lol I may as well start dumpster diving and save some dignity in doing that.

Eggs, rice and if you can try to meet some old people with a garden and propose them to help them out against few vegetables. They'd love some company and someone strong to do things they can't do anymore. If you're lucky they'll most likely also have a coop and give you eggs every once in a while

Eggs are $3.50 a dozen now too and that's only 800 calories. Not looking for heart disease either.

Not a bad idea. You can get hundreds of dollars worth of groceries that are relatively fresh if you figure out a grocer's garbage schedule. I've gotten a pallet of olives, bread, potatoes, citrus fruits, french mango yogurt, and boxes of cottage cheese in one night before. It's much better in the winter than in hot weather though.

I would consider it but I need my study time and I'd rather budget than start slipping in grades

80 dollars a month is plenty to spend on a month's worth of food. Chicken leg quarters at 59 cents/lb, beans, rice, cabbage, onions, potatoes, some apples for sugar to help with mood. You should have enough to nab some herbs and spices to amp things up too.

461 calories for $1. Not bad for chicken. I might consider that and pair it with some carb source for calories. I wonder about this

You can get sixty pounds of chicken quarters where I live for thirty dollars. That's enough for a pound a day. You can get a pound of oatmeal for three dollars. What's the problem?

    poorgay here
food is cheaper in eu, but look into chicken/turkey mince. basically the same price as bone-in thighs per kg, and you don't have to spend time deboning. bit boring but works, bulk it out with beans.
sardines/tuna is cheap for lunch, then you can have bulking shake (milk, oats, peanut butter, fruit, eggs) for breakfast

Contact your school and ask if they can help out with a meal card/trade, most schools help students out you just need to reach out and ask/explain your problem. Or better yet be a good student and apply to every single scholarship even if you don't qualify and get mega financial aid, sounds like you're broke enough. I applied to every scholarship my school offered and got like 7 offers back.

Why are you paying loans (assuming these are student loans) while you’re still in school?

Seems like you gonna need to go WW1 trench warfare style and live off canned food or buying beans and tofu in a bulk

Beans and rice. You will survive on those and maintain.
Eggs if they are affordable where ever you live, might check for farmers markets and similar, they often have good quality for similar price or cheaper and quality is always important with food.
Just go to ethno shop, get the biggest bag of rice and beans you can find and build on that.

OP is too proud to do that, he would rather shit his pants eating dumpster chicken that associate with poor people or even look like he was struggling.

    Dumpster dive.

Stores will throw out food that is a day over the best before date. Including meat. I'd still avoid eating white meats from dumpster, but red meats are ok. Cook pork thoroughly. Bread is bread. If there's mould on fruit or veggies, just cut around it.
