Picrel guy should easily be able to lift 30 more kilos. People treat this like some meme rehab excercise--it's not. It's a heavy compound movement. People had competitions of who could pullover the most weight back in the day. Treat it like what it is.

Good way for noobs to snap their shit up if they have weak shoulders

Noobs should progress slowly and use high rep ranges to condition their shoulders, you're correct, but only in the beginning. OP guy looks jacked enough that he should be lifting more.

Do cross-bench style so you can drop your hips and get more of a stretch. They're great.

Go down way farther and really feel it in your serratus.

      BASEDBASEDBASED

Finally a thread where I can ask this:
Can someone please explain the difference between a DB pullover, a skull crusher, and a French press? I've tried looking at instructions but I don't see what the difference is. Many thanks in advance.

skull crushers are done with maximal elbow flexion to isolate the triceps, pullovers are done with much lesser elbow flexion to involve the lats, chest and serratus (although imho should be done with next to no elbow flexion to isolate the serratus further) and the french press brews decent tasting coffee for group of people

You are dumb. Weighted stretching movements like pullovers require more technique and care. Joff only used 45lbs for pullovers and benched 2 plates. No one cares about powershitting.

How? You're just lying across the bench instead of straight down.

How do you recommend doing them? I am pretty good at controlling the eccentric, but I've noticed it feels slightly different with elbows pointing up vs arms pointing outwards. What about straight vs slightly bent arms. I feel soreness in my chest sometimes, sometimes the lats and this week my abs got sore. I know I'm not targeting right.

My chest workout is slightly limited so I'm trying to get as much as I can from the pullover which I can do.

I prefer elbows pointing out. But I do feel more last involvement if I have elbows pointing up with a slight bend

I prefer using the lat bar and the tricep push down. One off the few muscles that benefit from focusing on contraction and lots of slow high rep sets.

french press and skullcrushers are used interchangeably however this is a technique difference.
French press is done standing or seated and you lower the weight behind your head.
Skull crushers are done while lying down (incline, decline, or flat doesn't matter) and you lower the weight to your forehead aka skull.
      Both hit the triceps
Db pullover is completely different. It's meant to stretch the muscle in your rib cage and serratus anterior giving you a wide barrel chest.

Yes the cable pullover is for lats, dumbbell pullover is for chest. Dumbbell pullover can really help people who struggle with activating the chest focusing on the "wrap the pecs around the ribcage" cue.
