What is the point of this? Collagen doesn’t have anything to do with keto. Collagen is literally made out of protein*.

*this product is an incomplete source of protein.

It’s way more expensive than whey, not worth it imo just eat oranges and bone broths

Buy bulk gelatin powder in specialized baker stores.
Regular store bought goes for €50/Kg, specialist goes for €20-30/kg. Whey goes for €35/kg
Though whey is usually 95%+ protein while gelatin 80%. So they're comparable in price.

isn't whey incredibly processed and hard on your kidneys and liver?

Whey is just a kind of protein found in milk. It’s probably cheaper to buy milk than buy whey anyway, and you can just get protein from food, so whey protein doesn’t really do anything except make it more convenient to eat protein.

I used to think like this but when I finally started using whey my lifts exploded. Same with creatine. So I'm optimistic for collagen too.

lol literally placebo and your lifts were shit. there is really no reason why your lifts should go up more than by like 1kg if you start taking creatine. but if you needed that placebo to progress then i guess good for you

This is a better approach. Gelatin is dirt cheap and you can get it at any supermarket in paper envelopes without any PFAS liner. You just mix it into enough hot liquid otherwise it'll get lumpy and you'll never dissolve it. Because it's a food, I trust it to be a little purer than sketchy supplements.

why would whey be toxic just because its in powder form? there isnt even any chemicals used to filter or dry it

it´s the "waste" product of cheese you jsut seperate from fat and sugar with a ceramic filter and heat dry it
and you are basically left with ony the milk protein dried

unless you say past milk and cheese is toxic you have no leg to stand on

            Anonymous

There's a possibility that oxidation damages stuff during drying but i doubt it's significant for whey

Processed means it's easier to digest. It's the same with sugar.
Granulated sugar is a hundred times easier to digest than the sugar you find in fruits.

New research has shown that it has muscle and tendon growth effects... i think it was 30% more muscled growth and like doubling of tendon size compared to control.
The mechanism behind it is still currently unknown.
The idea that it cant be broken down like that because its a long chain is negated because its hydrolyzed.

This as a powder is indeed different than getting it through chicken skin

The stomach hydrolysed proteins anyway through acid and pepsin enzymes, hydrolyzed is solely so it doesn't form a jello in your cup

It's a protein source that is high in glycine, has every other amino acids, except tryptophan
And this is a good thing, high tryptophan from whey on the long run does more harm than good to your health, and is known to make you hit the wall earlier, you can get more than enough tryptophan for muscle synthesis just from a decent diet
Whereas the high glycine from collagen is harmless and you will notice how good it is for your joints, hair and skin health, improves sleep too
Price is debatable, where I live a quality whey and quality collagen peptides are almost the same price, with the latter being slightly cheaper, even better because the whey has 0.8g protein per 1g, whereas collagen has 0.9g protein per 1g
You can go for more DIY natural options like bone broth, but if you country has a reputable lab I would still go for peptides, it is the best bang for buck because of higher bioavailability
It is a hard to swallow redpill, since whey is so deep rooted in fitness industry, and most people just 'follow the current thing' instead of doing researches on their own, so don't listen to whey salesmen and shills ITT, it doesn't take much to realize whey is a meme, just leave it to roidtrannies to keep buying it, the guys who are professional at destroying their own health

I still feel like all these collagen threads are a constructed marketing campaign to try and eat whey's position in the market.

They always read like an advertisement and it's always the same messaging. If a real person actually preferred collagen to whey, they would probably post once about it and not dedicate their lives to trying to convert others.

Exactly. The ROI for posting on IST is probably unknown but it's free to post and you can do it on the side of the rest of your actual job (like me right now).

Actually, there's probably a lot of topics that are just fringe marketing campaigns.

    For collagen:

Go to your local Asian store or even Walmart and buy chicken feet.

Pressure cook the feet for 2-3 hours

    Strain

You're left with incredibly gelatinous broth. Use this to make rice/beans/soup/whatever.
