he’s not saying to steal food and bring it home. he’s saying to eat some of the food you make on the job. it’s called tasting moron, it’s a part of the occupation. or by “line cook” do you mean you put the fries in the deep frier at McDonald’s?
Frick you bro nothing wrong with working at McDonald's its a job like any other and I hate that people look down on it yet shovel our food in their faces all day
I’m not judging the job, I’m saying that OP claimed to work in a restaurant as a cook. If you work in a restaurant as a cook you’re supposed to fricking eat food you make, all he has to do is do it more often than normal, which you will never get in trouble for. And if he does work at McDonald’s they have huge employee discounts so he should just suck it up and eat the goyslop.
not really we only get pizzas if we burnt something and i am too good for that

>cooks don't eat from the restaurant
Is this normal practice in America? All cooks here in Spain eat from the restaurant at the beggining or end of their shifts. I worked at a hotel as an inventory guy and I would still have free lunch cooked by the chefs.
If you work as a cook or a chef your making the same things hundreds or thousands of time. You should know how to season, what it should smell and look like. I would taste something a few times a shift to make sure, but you generally won’t taste every element of every dish that goes out.
Yeah you have the skills to use lesser ingredients and make them taste good. I was a chef for 7 years, most of which was in fine dinning. I mostly live off stews and soups. I normally cook 2 times a week and the meals come out to about 2 dollars a meal, and I’m eating about 3400 calories atm.
>works with food
>can't get food
You steal a sliver here and take a piece there. It all adds up moron
We don't have silverware in the restaurant anon.
>steal food
>proceeds to be yelled for 3 hours

Do you guys really never taste anything before sending it out? I find that very hard to believe.
i mean only if we are adding something to the menu

eat the leftover
19 per hour is plenty if you're working full time
If you work as a line cook you should know you can make food for a dollar or two a meal.
honestly half of our ingredients are expensive import shit from italy plus the butcher work
