On the one hand some people seem to say lifting is easy, braindead, everyone can achieve it etc. On the other hand some others say it is very difficult. "Many are called but few are chosen" as the Bible says. So what do you think?

Most things are like that. It’s like if you’ve been eating a lot of sugar and suddenly try to cut right back on your intake, at first you’ll feel kinda shit and you’ll have cravings and it’ll be quite difficult but once you get used to it you’ll realise it’s actually easy and the thought of eating as much sugar as you used to will gross you out. You’ll no longer understand what it felt like to be a sugar addict. The same is true of being fit, being productive, being socially competent and even being happy/positive and not controlled by your emotions, it’s actually really easy to have all of those things if you already have them but if you don’t then learnt how to live like that is very hard
I get what you mean, but then why do people forget about the time they were struggling being fit, happy, and all those things you are talking about? I'm doing a PhD right now, but I won't forget how I was struggling in my first bachelor's year. I'm not gonna say "having a bachelor's degree is easy because I'm doing a PhD now"
>"some others say it is very difficult" >quotes fanfiction as an example
this board is a simulation exile. these opinions are all in your head. go outside
I don't think its so much of why you are able to do it, but more of why you are doing it.
think of the beginner goal of benching one plate for example. most people could do it if they took the time to try it out. but in the end, it is a hard task: you can't possibly expect someone who has never exercised before to bench 1pl8 on their first gym session. doing something new for the first time is often intimidating, without friends or guidance, the milestones that are achievable often seem like insurmountable wall, covered in fog. the difficulty is not so much in the physical aspect of lifting, but the mental aspect of lifting. to constantly challenge yourself.
>mental capacity isnt solely measured in intellectual capacity, but willpower as well.
>activity that requires discipline and a strict diet is easy
It's pure cope by people looking for excuses. Most people could achieve it but only a few actually do because they are strong enough mentally.
Lifting is simple, but it isn't easy. Anyone can do it, but there's a great deal of mental fortitude and discipline required to stick with it and be successful. There's nothing complex about training for a marathon, but it's obviously very taxing and a very small portion of the population has the drive to do it.
It's for braindead people. One look at the catalog proves this beyond the shadow of a lout.
Your mom licks my abs nerd
jokes on you i have two dads
>implying those posters actually lift

If only we knew how different things can be

It's for smart people. What dumb person has ever achieve impressive results natty?

it's so dumb it becomes boring after a while and you have to be brain dead to continue for ages
>everyone can achieve it etc
"so why haven't you"

Dont confuse simple/easy and complex/hard.
Lifting is simple but hard.
>activity that requires discipline and a strict diet is easy
It's pure cope by people looking for excuses. Most people could achieve it but only a few actually do because they are strong enough mentally.
So the real distinction is weak mentally/strong mentally instead of dumb/smart, isn't it?
Pretty much. You need to be smart enough to find the right routine and diet etc but that's most of it, I think.
But that's the point, finding the right routine and diet requires intelligence and yet they are key to progress
Lifting while you're making progress is easy, keeping going when you're stalled is hard
Brainlettes are confusing something being simple as being easy simple as.
What's the difference then
