Can you slow down your metabolism through fasting?

Can you slow down your metabolism through fasting? I've been doing OMAD for 2 months or so (so that's 23 hour fasts every day) and I've noticed that I haven't lost any weight and that I shit less. So it seems to me that my body's metabolism just became more efficient producing less by product (i.e. shit). I never was fat in my life, but I always had a fast as frick metabolism, shitting at least twice a day if not more. These days I eat less, shit less and still maintain my weight. How low can I go? Can I switch to eating every other day and still maintain body mass?

I don't believe in CICO anyway, and that's the point of my thread. I could eat 6000 calories a day and most of it could just go through me in the form of feces without being metabolized. Maybe some people like me can't really put on fat because the excess energy just goes right through us.

You better start believing in CICO stories, you're in one.

Not OP, but if food goes through your digestive system without being digested, that proves that you can eat the same amount of calories and still have a different energy intake. If it's possible for food to go through you without being absorbed, then you're forced to concede that that two people can eat the same amount of calories and still gain a different amount of energy, without breaking any law of thermodynamics.

Just because it's brown, doesn't mean it's digested. It also doesn't look like a big mac as soon as it reaches your stomach.

You mean where you're stomach then breaks down the big mac and takes what it needs to survive and stores what it doesn't need and expels the rest? That's called digestion

Sometimes when I eat carrots, later when I poop there's bits that look like they never even went through a person. Just perfectly clean and orange, sticking out of my turds. There was also one time a decade ago when I ate half a box of cashews in one sitting and the same thing happened. You could have taken those cashews and salted them and served them to someone else. It hurt so much when they came out.

I'm just wondering if there could be a lot of unused, unmetabolized energy in your shit if you eat too much but your body can't put store the excess energy in the form of fat. I realize this is genetics.

CICO is not what you morons believe. It's constant, not just daily; it is influenced by a vast amount of factors and variables, too.

well one meal a day was introduced to restrict your calorie intake and put you in a calorie deficit but if you're eating in a calorie surplus and not eating enough protein (high thermic food) even if it is one meal a day you will gain weight.

you should calculate how much calories you need to eat to be in a deficit according to your height and weight then calculate calories of the food you eat and spread out your meals to fix your metabolism and lose weight!

Thanks but I don't need to lose weight, I actually want to maintain. I'm fasting for other health reasons like longevity.

then eat at a maintenance calorie and you won't gain much weight. the problem is you're eating too much!

Slowing metabolism is a myth. A study found what happens is you stop doing small unconscious actions like tapping your foot, pacing, etc. So just be aware of this effect and always keep moving while fasting

        Logic
Less movement = less calories burned
In fact, not eating lowers metabolism because it takes energy to process food
Losing weight lowers metabolism because you are maintaining less tissue, which requires energy, and again the movement thing; you move less mass which requires less energy. The same activities are less energy intensive at 160lb vs 180lb
