Yes, you can just get your carbs from fruit. It's more expensive than grains, is the only real reason you wouldn't want to.

when muscle will be made of sugar, that will be the day when you will need sugar to build muscle

muscle is made of protein, therefore you need protein to build muscle

Carbs don’t build muscle. Carbs build fake sarcoplasmic hypertrophic muscle that goes away when you stop lifting or eat less carbs. You need protein to rebuild and remodel muscle that you damage in the gym.

Problem with just eating fruits and veggies is that they contain a lot of fiber. People who want to diet are told to eat those because it they give the carbs for energy but also because of the fiber - it makes them feel fuller. This means that their bodies will not just use the carbs, but burn off their body fat for energy.

Grains and starchy roots are huge sources of sugar (because of their natural functions of giving energy to the plant), and the fact that humanity was able to grow them was a huge development of civilization. Gains and starchy roots are meant to be the immediate energy source. You're muscle building, so your body needs this immediate energy. Yes, some of the fat will be burned, but there's a chance that your body will also use some of the protein that you eat. There is also a chance that you might be more tired. Im not saying that all your energy needs to come from carbs, Im just saying that your body naturally expects it, and it's somewhat important to eat some.

I would say, if you can't eat grains (some people really cant cause of bad gut diseases), focus on rooty stuff like carrots, potatoes, turnips, or rutabega. But of course not too much, cause you want some fat to be burned too.

It's all about a balanced diet
