Some people love the dopamine and comfort food gives, and have larger stomachs than you so they can eat more.

  3. 1 year ago
    Anonymous

For reasons possibly hormonal, psychological, or both, that point where you feel too full and need to throw up gets set much higher. You get to a point where it takes more food to make you feel full, and you basically never feel satisfied. If you diet you feel constantly hungry. Lots of really obese people are compulsive/binge eaters, and that's its own mental thing.

It's probably true that average people can overeat too. Modern foods are really calorie dense and palatable so eating them until you're full can be enough to bulk you up. Really skinny people like you I always figured must have some undiagnosed digestive issue but idk.

oh i just said the exact same thing as the anon above me
it’s true though, i think a lot of fats are so confused about their bodily signals that they don’t even know what hunger is supposed to feel like- they misinterpret things like boredom as hunger and end up binge eating out of a need for stimulation

      Anonymous

      >Boredom
I think that this has a huge part of it. They just don't have a lot of interesting things going on in their lives. So food becomes a focus.

Im even more shocked that people can weigh under 100lbs, eating and gaining weight is pretty much what our bodies are made to do and it helps survival in times of hunger and winter and stuff, there's no genetic advantage to being thin and weak.

It depends how fat they are.

    >chubby
Bad habits growing up or just not caring. Normal people can accidentally get chubby and convince themselves its okay because they're still not "that" fat and they already have the wife and the job and the car and the house and two kids so what do they even need to look good for?

    >obese
Shitty "genetics". To get past chubby and end up obese you need to let yourself go in the above way but also be predisposed to weight gain (e.g. big stomach, picky eater who only likes the worst possible foods, slow metabolism, hate sports and prefer sedentary hobbies like art or vidya, low willpower/high neuroticism/whatever sub-mental illness personality traits that make life hard). Both chubby and obese people are "trying" to reign themselves in - the thing that makes obesefats not stop at merely chubby is that reigning themselves in is relatively harder because of their "genetics" and so they aren't as successful. I've put genetics in quotes because I'm talking about things that are sometimes literally genetics but other times are sort of predispositions but which, in a similar way, aren't really under the control of the person.

    >super obese
Mental problems. At this point the failure to control yourself is so severe it can only be caused by some kind of intervening disorder - think binge eating to cope with abuse, for example. Nobody gets this fat unless there's something actually wrong with them in a big way. They may not have a diagnosed mental problem (e.g. clinical narcissists are almost never diagnosed because they don't seek treatment - why would they? they're perfect!) but there is almost certainly something diagnosable there if you look for it.

    >my 600lbs life obese
Mental problems to the extreme plus enablers. Getting this fat means you can't even function in normal society anymore, and the only people who GET this fat are the people who never could anyway.

      Anonymous

I mean the point I was trying to make but didn't is that you can conceptualise everyone as getting fatter over time until they decide to and succeed at stopping themselves. The point where they succeed (and thus how fat they are) is dictated by the pressures to get fatter versus the pressures to stop getting fatter.

Nobody wants to be fat, so everyone is "trying" to get to and stay at a healthy weight on some level. But some people have less in their arsenal to fight the fat with, either because they """don't care""" (nobody would turn down a fit and attractive body if they could get it for zero effort, but some people already have everything they'd use that body to get anyway so the benefit is miniscule compared to the investment) or because as human beings they aren't equipped for the fight for whatever reason.

Things like binge eating disorder is both a pressure to get fatter in an obvious way as well as weakening your ability to resist getting fatter, because the usual weapons like "counting calories" don't work - the definition of a binge is that it's outside of your control, that you're eating when you don't even want to, literally thinking as you eat the food how much you hate yourself for chewing and swallowing and taking another bite. That's what makes it a disorder instead of wilful gluttony. You can't fight that with the usual tips and tricks, you need specialist help - and if you can't access that you will never succeed, and so you just end up obese (or bulimic).

Cap, look at brother iz, he weighed 600 pounds, no mental problems. He just has the genetics of islanders which are primo weight gainers and he happened to live in a time of excess food everywhere. Imo people don’t reign themselves in because think about it, a 30 pound weight difference is the difference between normal and obese, and is also one candy bar a day. You’re telling me that people will use control to not get 600 pounds fat but stop just short enough by one candy bar to not be normal.

There's a genetic factor to it. In fact there's a fricktons of factors, but the genetic one is why slim asian still get diabeetus and die of cardiac events from their shit diet.

You want the real reasons? There's 3 of them: oil, sugar and flour. Of course there's more than that, but if you cut those you'll be doing better than 80% of the population in your age group.
