NTA but the evidence cited in these studies for saturated fat causing CVD is extremely weak.
They typically look at people with existing CVD and try to reduce it by lowering dietary fat of all kinds, and one study cited had a combined approach of reducing dietary fat, stopping smoking + moderate exercise.

  10. 1 year ago
    Anonymous

I'm convinced that it's literally the opposite that the more you eat cholesterol the lower your chronic levels are and the more seed oils you eat the higher your LDL gets.

I had bloodwork done when I was using canola oil and olive oil only in whatever I cooked and ate. My LDL was high and my HDL was moderate. I got pretty scared, but based on the doctor's recommendations there was nothing for me to do except start taking cholesterol lowering medication which was out of the question since I was 21.
During the next years I sort of "let myself go" since I was in a new environment where certain food stuff was easier to get than others so I switched to eating butter, full fat milk and more meat with not really almost any kind of seed oil in my diet. Once I got back from there and had my bloodwork done I was ready for a death sentence, but instead everything was better than it used to be, LDL normal, HDL high and triglycerides within the normal range. Nothing else than my diet had changed, I was just as active as before and wasn't particularly stressed.

I was eating what many idiots would call a "heart attack diet" but that's just the thing that kept my arteries clean so I don't really trust anything that comes to nutrition anymore, I experiment on myself.

lots of things can change cholesterol levels. it even varies with the seasons or throughout the day. pretty consistent that seed oils lower serum cholesterol but generally not with favorable mortality outcomes

People are shitty processed food and heart attacks.

Doctors looked at blood and said ooh, high cholesterol - it's clogging up your arteries, it must be what you're eating.

In truth the shitty processed food is full of sugar which is trying to dissolve your arteries and salt which is trying to burst the arteries with added pressure. Your body creates cholesterol to try to fix your ravaged blood vessels and patch things up. At this point cholesterol from your morning eggs (the only unprocessed food you eat you fat frick) decides to hang out with the cholesterol in your arteries that it passes and makes things worse.

Stop eating sugar you fricks and do some exercise.

To clarify for any who don't understand why opinion has been split on cholesterol for the past few decades; the old research that established a link between CVD and high cholesterol diets didn't account for other nutritional factors. It isn't concrete, but currently it appears that dietary cholesterol has no bearing on blood cholesterol in healthy adults. I must really exaggerate that point though, healthy adults.

By coincidence or design, foods high in trans-fat and saturated fat also tend to be high in dietary cholesterol as well. We now know that those two are more directly correlated with a high chance of CVD, and the old research came to the wrong conclusion with the correct evidence. So if you're obese and are fat, a high cholesterol intake isn't inherently dangerous by itself, but you're likely consuming some pretty dogshit stuff alongside it that WILL increase your chances of developing CVD.

tldr: cholesterol isn't inherently bad and is fine to eat, foods high in cholesterol however tend to be full of shit that's bad for us.

This is about right, but there's also evidence that some people are more susceptible to high levels of blood cholesterol than others, due to genetics. Those ~10% of the population have to exercise more control over their cholesterol intake.

Your body will straight up make cholesterol and other fatty acids in your liver using carbs and protein as building blocks. The only difference between eating a bowl of pasta and guzzling a quart of bacon grease is that your liver is going to work to turn those carbs into cholesterol and the insulin response is going release more of it into your bloodstream than you could possibly need, whereas you will just have an oily runny shit with your bacon grease and your liver does nearly no work. Both moronic, one considerably more moronic unless you plan to use the insulin response to build muscle.

Dietary essential fatty acids are necessary. 2 of the 3 essential fatty acids that your body can't create are found in animal fats, and all 3 can be found in animal fat without plants. >Cholesterol is a fricking meme
high blood cholesterol is a sign of inflation in the body, it's not caused by anything, your body makes cholesterol to fix shit, when you have high cholesterol it means something is making you inflamed on a constant basis, it could be smoking, drinking or eating something you are allergic to, but instead of changing habits doctors just tell you to not eat animal products and give you a pill that literally castrates you

hey moron. No one is saying dietary cholesterol is the bad thing. In people with predisposition to high cholesterol, they excessively turn dietary saturated fat into cholesterol in their liver, which causes atherosclerosis. Literally read anything before shitting up this board with your moronic opinion. You lose speaking privileges until you're reading to actually research what you want to make big loud dumb claims about
