CICO is a meme (unless you dgaf about muscle mass)

I cut calories so hard that I developed bad gingivits and almost lost teeth. Only almost, thank God. What I DID lose, however, was mainly muscle. I'm down from ~30% fat now, turned into a skinny fat 20%.

I continued lifting, which did absolutely nothing to retain muscle.
My test levels are abysmally low, even lower than when fat.
Basically, I am showing malnutrition now.
My health may be ruined.
My deficit was big, over 1000cal/day, but nothing outrageous by modern standards.
It would probably have been better if I didn't go for CICO but protein leverage because I never watched protein intake, only going for the daily recommended value of 0.8g per kg of bodyweight.

Which SHOULD have saved me from muscle wasting, but didn't. At all. That is the CICO reality without steroids.

        Macros come to a total calorie count you dumb spastic moron

        Example for cutting:

        200g protein = 800 calories
        150g carbs = 600 calories
        75g fat = 675 calories
        Total calories for these macros = 2075 calories

        Example for bulking:

        200g protein = 800 calories
        300g carbs = 1200 calories
        75g fat = 675 calories
        Total calories for these macros = 2675 calories

        This is how cutting/bulking/maintenance is setup using CICO and tracking macros

        You have total calorie goal for losing or gaining fat, within those calories you workout what macros you want to have. But ultimately the total calorie number is what determines your loss or gain

        i hope this message finds you tied up and gang-fricked in the back of a 2006 corolla. while on a caloric deficit (commonly known as a "cut") you are supposed to get your body's daily required nutrients (protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, etc) by eating foods that provide them (white or red meats, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, etc.) in portion sizes that fulfill, but do not exceed, your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) minus about 500 to 1000 calories.
        alternatively, you could continue to eat goyslop and twinkies that add up to about 100 calories over your calculated deficit and remain in fat cuck limbo indefinitely. I would recommend a supplementation of your own semen if you chose the latter option (which you will, because you are a undisciplined dumbfrick), in order to retain the few nutrients gleaned from your bad decision making

    Strange. I did a 1000 cal deficit (or thereabouts) and lost 12kg in 3 months. I don't record bodyfat % since there's no convenient and reliable method of doing so (and it doesn't really matter anyway) but I look significantly better and preserved most of my muscle mass. Lifts remained stable in weight but training volume dropped (bench for example remained at 95kg but went 5x6 to 5x3).

          Sure, but saying "control" is much. Hormones obviously modify metabolism to a degree, but it's not major, barring very serious and very rare disorders. Even then, it's a matter of eating even less, you quite literally cannot gain weight if you don't eat, except through temporary water retention. That's not to mention that a lof of hormones and medications associated with weight gain lead to it by increasing appetite, like antidepressants.

    CICO is completely misunderstood. It's just a fundamental fact and a consequence of the law of conservation of energy. It basically means that, all things equal, if you add more calories, these will be stored if not converted to energy. It doesn't mean that eating different types of foods don't make any difference (it does) and the exercise you choose or how you expend your energy also does and so on. It's not related at all to diets, health, or anything.

    It's a false dichotomy to discuss it it the context of specific diets. I doubt ketolards or vegans or carnivore gays really believe you can eat all the meat in the world for example or just 100g of meat and it won't make any difference on your weight gain or loss. That's cico for you.

    OP is right but he's being a moron in his word choice. It's more than CICO (but CICO still is relevant).
    A man will put on muscle more easily than a woman because testosterone, no one disputes this. So we have common understanding that hormones have an effect.
    I'm already tired of typing this so I'll just skp to the end and make a proper screencap worthy post later.
    The answer is HGH.
    During fasting (zero calories), your HGH levels shoot up drastically, preserving muscle mass. In times of starvation, body goes "maybe I need muscles to find food" and preserves them as best it can. During times of famine (note: not starvation) where it has calories but not enough, it cannibalizes both muscle and fat.

    In OP's particular case:

    Dietary fat is responsible for hormone production. Fix that and you'll be fine.

        The time difference between the pics is 5 months. But i already achieved 90% of this result in 3 months.

      You cant lose fat without a calorie deficit

      Macros make up the Calories that make up your Surplus or Deficit.

      Macros = Body Composition you will have at the Specific Body-weight your CALORIE intake has you be at.

      You can be a sloppy 150lb or a shredded 150lb, it depends on your macros within those calories. But the 150lb is determined by CICO.

    You are naturally low T, in which case you need to consult your doctor and try to get TRT.
    Being fat for so fricking long has messed up your hormonal system beyond repair, in which case you - once again - need to seek TRT.
    Or you went balls to wall starvation mode, in which case you fricked up your hormonal balance and need help.
