What's the best way to quit coffee? I like coffee, but I don't want to be dependent on it. I currently drink around 4 cups per day. Would cutting down to 1 be a good start?

GOMAD worked for me. I used to drink 2 Ventis a day.
Simply don't allow it into your body
I mean, caffeine withdrawals are pretty terrible, I would rather not experience intense headaches for 2-9 days.
Just stop. I used to drink 3+ cups a day, until I started whitening my teeth. I prefer white teeth over the taste of coffee. If you really want caffeine you can buy pills, or drink tea
If you go on a legit carnivore diet you'll be able to manage it. Eating only beef, organs, raw dairy and fruit is helping me a lot with all sorts of addictive behavior. Our ancestors are still there to give us the answers.
People mostly ate fruit and nuts pre agriculture though. Aboriginal Australians noted that they shouldn't eat meat during hotter months because they got sick.
Why should eating meat during a hot month make you sick?
Because the meat spoils quickly in the heat?
So, eating spoiled meat makes you sick, not actually eating meat when it's hot.
refrigerators are killing your gains
Just bite the bullet and cut back to 1 cup a day as a hard limit. It will such for a week or two but your body will adjust pretty quickly
This is what I started doing today. Have a minor headache, and feel less energetic, but overall not too bad. Hopefully, tomorrow is even better.
Yeah it honestly shouldn’t take long. I’ve been at one cup a day (sometimes two) for a few years now. Seems like a good balance and I sleep much better now.
Sounds good, I'll stick with 1 cup a day and see how it goes. Cheers.
Hmm, scratch that. Had quite an uncomfortable withdrawal headache this evening. Ended up having a decaf coffee, which seems to have eased the pain a bit since decaf contains a small amount of caffeine. Frick, caffeine is incredibly addictive. I swear, if caffeine was discovered today, it would be made illegal.
Depends how hard and fast you want to quit. Replacing 1-2 tsps with decaf every day will get you there with no withdrawal effects.
try to reduce your consumption of coffee to one cup a day.
literally just take a sip or two of one cup throughout a day.
on the weekends drink herbal teas so the caffeine cessation hits less hard. (tea has a low amount of caffeine)
personally am on one cup a day and only during weekdays and see no problem with it.
OP here. Update - I drank one cup of coffee in the morning. Felt reasonably well most of the day, albeit a minor headache which creeped up in the afternoon around 2pm. The headache was mild enough to be able to mostly ignore. When I got home from work, in the evening the headache began to intensify. This was no joke a pretty serious headache. I used to have migraines as a child, and this pain was quite close to migraine level. It was debilitating. I had no appetite, had to throw out my dinner. Lay on my bed, clutching at my head in pain. It was agonising. I eventually took 2 paracetamol and had a cup of green tea. I then had a hot shower and the pain has finally subsided as I type this post. Frick me, caffeine withdrawal is no joke anons, please don’t make the same mistake I did - taper off instead. Green tea is a good way to supplement the extra cups of coffee you’re used to having.
I’ve learned my lesson.
