Don't make an L, bend your arms like 10 degrees to allow for some freedom of movement in either direction, it's alot safer on your joints to not fully lock them when they're bearing weight
It's a pretty fricking small muscle group and you're already at an intermediate level so I would expect it to take a long time, 3-4 years is a long time though so maybe idfk I do 20s for sets of 15
Well the weight doesn't matter I suppose, nobody cares what you can lateral raise. If what I'm doing now is intermediate that's a bit worrying since I look completely DYEL still

Again, it's a really small muscle group, don't listen to the moron who made that thread saying they are the most important muscle for looking like you lift, I'd say they're one of the least important. What are your stats in the big 3?

Squat 130kg x3, DL 160kg x2, I don't do BB bench cause it gives me shoulder pain even with scapular retraction and depression but my incline DB press is 25kg x12. Oh and I OHP 47.5kg for 6

Seems like you have issues with your upper body working properly, I would work on solving those issues as having a functioning shoulder joint is really important for not being DYEL, check out Matt Ogus' videos on shoulder health and workout drills for making shoulders healthier.

I'll take a look but it's literally just BB bench that fricks with it for whatever reason

Even 35 lbs in each hand is e-statting, you need to post body and stop pretending you lift
Post your body and you doing 35 lb lateral raises
Not sure why 35 lb lateral raises is so hard for you to believe, and also not sure why I would lie about how much I can do on such a specific accessory. MMC is way more important. Here's my delt anyway, though. Not posting a vid because I did shoulders yesterday.
It's not hard for me to believe a person is capable of doing it, I can do 35s for a few reps, I just don't trust anybody on this site when they say "oh x weight is ez"
35 lbs per hand is easy though. Not something I could do first day in the gym but basically anyone can get to that, and most guys could probably do it faster than me. You just sound like a bitter DYEL. How about you post body?
I'm a skinny gay with no chest but could do these in HS because I swam butterfly. I had such beautiful shoulders even the roidgay complimented me on them
You must have some pretty impressive delts if you're so certain that the rest of us can't lat raise 30-35 lbs. Why don't you post them so we can all mire?
No its not let me guess you have a sub 3pl8 bench and sub 2pl8 ohp.
Fricking amatures i swear.
>implying a 315 bench and 225 OHP is representative of the average IST user
Lol >implying the average IST user even has a 2 plate bench
Lmao even, post body please
i finally figured out how to do these right and it only took a korean bodybuilder on youtube to tell me. you have to pronate your wrist down. for the first time in my life i felt a pump on my side delts
As for me, it's the leaning variant, both with DBs and cables. Alternate the two and hit side delts 4 times per week. Never any pain and consistently adding reps.
I am doing those, lu raises, and single arm rear delt raises.
Just started this on my upper days so IDK how great it is but my shoulders seem to like it well enough.
Might try behind the neck press as an alternative to OHP too.
I fricking hate them. Switched to lu raises and never looked back. Feels so much more comfortable while also hitting the delts better and being more difficult.
Nobody does that with 50 pounders, meds
I do some pretty controlled reps with 35s and I'm not that strong, I'm sure someone more advanced could do the same with 50s.
theres zoomers on tiktok that are posting themselves raising between 50-70lbs
I do them with 40s for a set of 8, i am a 190lb powerlifter
I only do 15lbs but have a 2plate OHP. Why anyone would be doing low reps on these makes no sense to me
Aren't you supposed to hunch over a bit and not fully extend your arm but make some sort of L with them, for this exercise?
Or is it a different one?
Not necessarily. You do whatever you happen to feel the greatest connection with.
Simple as.
Don't make an L, bend your arms like 10 degrees to allow for some freedom of movement in either direction, it's alot safer on your joints to not fully lock them when they're bearing weight
Gotcha anon!
No that defeats the purpose entirely
Your thimbs need to be the highest finger
I lean forward a little and do what's essentially a halfway between a lateral raise and front raise. I think it hits the side delts better.
>35s on lateral raises
Nice e-statting, post body.
I'm guessing it's 35 pounds and not 35kg.
Even 35 lbs in each hand is e-statting, you need to post body and stop pretending you lift
35 pounds for lateral raises is not estating at all.
https://strengthlevel.com/strength-standards/dumbbell-lateral-raise/lb it's barely intermediate
That's for a 1 rep max you DYEL moron
that's 1rm
Because 90% of the morons posting there are bending 90 fricking degrees
I'm at 22lbs for sets of 12-15, will I really not be able to reach 35lbs in like 3-4 years?
It'll be very easy to reach 35lbs. It will take 2 years at the extreme end
just sounds weak
Post your body and you doing 35 lb lateral raises

i’m at 27.5 lbs for 16 reps and my shoulders are cannonballs
dear morons,
it's just a random picture from google
I wasn't talking about the picture I'm directly confronting the DYEL estatter, hope that clears things up for you

Mirin. I believe you can do 35s
It's not hard for me to believe a person is capable of doing it, I can do 35s for a few reps, I just don't trust anybody on this site when they say "oh x weight is ez"

I bet your form looks like a bird with broken wings
I'm a skinny gay with no chest but could do these in HS because I swam butterfly. I had such beautiful shoulders even the roidgay complimented me on them
What a bunch of fricking DYEL's. I just did 30 pounds for 15 reps.
this you? https://www.youtube.com/shorts/cSi-ktG0L3E

Forgot to actually post body
Doughboy
Thanks, I'm 17 lbs from July
you would never post body even with a gun to your head
No its not let me guess you have a sub 3pl8 bench and sub 2pl8 ohp.

I thought everyone knew it was pinkies up? Also heard it called "pouring the jug"
no not like that. your wrist have to be bent not turned
knuckles down
Nope, that's how you frickup your shoulder. Do them with thumbs up so the delts face the downward notion of gravity
Y-you're cheating on us?
No I can always tell. Those have never hurt my shoulders unlike benching.
As for me, it's the leaning variant, both with DBs and cables. Alternate the two and hit side delts 4 times per week. Never any pain and consistently adding reps.
Lean away with cables are what I use too. I read somewhere that they cause more activation as the resistance is constant unlike DBs

Do you add weight or just reps? I do 4x12 but find it crazy hard to add 10lb without dropping my rep range by half.
Adding 10 lbs is a ton, does your gym have any of those little 2.5 lb or 5 lb blocks for cable machines?
10lbs is not a ton. A ton is 2000lbs.
>Thumbs pointing down
Injury
>Thumbs pointing up
No injury
You homies really arguing about how high you can go in weight I only go up to 8kg at most and have the best delts ITT
How come no one's talking about upright rows? Don't those hit the side delts too?
I am doing those, lu raises, and single arm rear delt raises.
Just started this on my upper days so IDK how great it is but my shoulders seem to like it well enough.
Might try behind the neck press as an alternative to OHP too.
>do these for years never feel them
>do cable variations once
>delts are fried next day
Cable strikes again
I fricking hate them. Switched to lu raises and never looked back. Feels so much more comfortable while also hitting the delts better and being more difficult.
>CHALLENGER APPROACHING!
Just do both
