Is there anyway I can beat the more chad professions like Lawyers and Doctors? Feels like girls think i’m a beta provider cause im an accountant…

Does having a better body than them help or is it insurmountable?

No, you're not considered a lawyer if you don't have a degree in law you fricking moron.

  3. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

I work for the state in a court of justice. I take you'd consider me a 'lawyer', though I don't have a degree in law, I earn considerably above most lawyers and I even have to lecture some of the most stupid ones on how to do their job from time to time

whatever you do, and whatever your profession is, just be cool. By that I mean don't sweat it, just act like whatever you have or got was effortless. Chad didn't study hard and chad didn't sacrifice a lot to get X. Chad simply got X, and it was pretty easy, too. 'Yeah, I had to study for the exams... fifteen minutes after hahaha'. That sort of thing. As long as you do that, you won't be seen as beta. I work in a setting filled with judges from 1st and 2nd instance, and there are alpha judges and beta judges. The alphas act as if they're baristas, they're not excessively polite, they're pretty laid back, etc. There's no way these guys will ever be seen as beta providers and I almost wanna be like the best of them, only I absolutely hate law and wouldn't stomach it. Women are simpler than that, so as long as you're about half as laid back, you'll be fine. Don't be a nerd, don't act like whatever you have was hard.

      Anonymous

      also this is correct.

the essence of "coolness" is effortlessness. you have to cultivate a state of pure being-ness. you simply exist in the world as your authentic self, effortlessly competent and entirely secure: "cool".

of course nobody is like this but you achieve the effect honestly by not being anxious about yourself and dishonestly by just concealing it. honest coolness is "chad", dishonest coolness is narcissistic personality disorder.

    i have some accountant friends.

if you are anything like them (and in my experience all accountants are the same) then you are doomed to a life of spending your decent salary enjoying mild thrills from mundane things with your wife and 2.4 children and 2.4 cars.

i don't understand what could drive a man to being an accountant and that's why i'm not one. you people are like the human equivalent of drywall. accountancy and similar paper-pusher jobs exist for that class of person who is smart enough to not want to work a trade but not smart enough for truly independent critical thinking in my opinion.

anyway no, your flaws are interpersonal. but a better body will help you get a better class of girl for you to use to tick the box on your "how to live 101" form.

i had the chance to do CS instead of accounting. Chose the CPA route. I actually enjoy accounting a lot more than I did coding. Coding side projects was fun but coding in a corporate setting made me want to rope.
Also my job is pretty easy.. a lot of software engineering jobs are very intense (ie the well paid ones) despite how many people post about doing 20 minutes of work a day.

Good luck. You'll do fine on the CPA. Frick REG in the ass but every thing is manageable if you prep correctly.
Accounting is a great, stable profession. But you can do almost anything in the business world with a CPA, so don't close yourself off to only financial reporting or tax roles.
I've done very well for myself. One of the most underlooked values of becoming an accountant is applying the knowledge to your own finances. You should start tracking your finances now as if you are a business. Build it out in Excel and you can just reuse them every year.
Young people are not becoming CPAs at the same rate as boomer CPAs are retiring. There will be a significant shortage at some point according to the AICPA.. you are in a good spot. Just study up.

Pay for Becker or (ideally) get your firm to pay for it.
I would look back over your notes from intermediate accounting.
If you don't have a degree in accounting, you have a long, difficult road ahead. You need to probably buy and read books on financial accounting (intro), managerial accounting, and intermediate accounting.
Unfortunately, unlike a lot of other disciplines there are basically NO good free online resources for learning accounting.

There's a majority of beta doctors and lawyers. They become said profession because they think money is the key to success with women - which is basically the definition of beta.
You just have to become the type of man where women see you're the real deal, and not just a slave and ATM.

accounting is fine. hours suck some months of the year, are completely nonexistent in other (i'm fricked til september but late October-mid feb i'm not really working more than a few hours a week).
Big4 is a little overrated, but don't work at some small rando firm.
I make more than all of my friends except the few in STEM who everyone thinks are insufferable because they go on about how literally everyone is in the wrong career path even though it didn't serve their interests.
No one asks you about your job, it's that uninteresting.
The poon is fine, the stability of the work is attractive as long as you have interests that aren't boring as shit. but watch out for the ones that rode the wiener carousel and are just looking for a provider type.

I've been thinking about jumping to mid-size, all our new hires are leaving since they hardly learn anything and get rekt by hours. All our work gets pushed to India now so there's such a lack of entry level hires.
I want to leave but I get to wfh and I have a ton of stability due to the lack of people.

I feel genuinely lucky - got a few friends in big 4 who got absolutely fricked and are totally turned off of accounting. The work I have is hard but my firm is trying really really hard to get staff a good breadth of experience. During my internship I did compilations and reviews (w/ corporate tax return prep), pubco audit, large private audit, small private audit, NPOs, municipalities, credit unions. In addition I got the chance to grind out personal tax returns as well. Feels like a good time to be a CPA boys.

So you're in tax? Is it really march-september? that's so fricked. In audit it's really just january-early april busy season. Unless you get put on a client with a different fiscal year close which only happens if they are really hurting for staff.

in Tax, and no. March/mid April is pretty busy but nothing back breaking, maybe one 50 hour week in there otherwise a full 40-45. late July to Mid September are the rough times. No weekend expectations yet but i'm sure it's happening soon. There's work in between but nothing stressful/overtime. Outside of that is real shitposting hours.
Have a few audit friends and they've been getting fricked by those fiscal year clients due to lack of staff as well.

Damn tax sounds way comfier than audit work balance wise. I just hated tax work itself and prefered the audit side. During january through the end of march I'm working every saturday and some sundays too.
If i get assigned to more than one client it's basically eat sleep audit.
I'm full wfh and planning to exit after 1 busy season as a manager.

Can you help me with my taxes? I have some ISOs and I do not know if I should exercise now or wait for new 409a since market pulled back (pre IPO), but we are targeting IPO in next 12-18 months. I am trying to figure out AMT now vs longterm/short term capital gains later. I am also expecting our stock price to dip pretty hard post IPO. Cash comp this year will be ~200k. I have 20k options vesting over 5 years, about 6k vested now, 2k exercised. Strike price: 1.50. Current FMV: 60. After 409a: probably like 30. I could still sell on EquityZen or Forge etc for like 80. Expecting IPO to be like 150.

Most people don’t need a tax accountant. You need a tax accountant and probably a financial analyst unless you want to read up on NPV analysis yourself. IST advice won’t cut it for this situation.

      Anonymous

I mean this is heading into financial analysis more than pure tax at this point - I agree with the other anon, you probably should talk to a proper financial analyst and spend 30 min giving them the full rundown. Also how likely is this IPO? The amount of times I've heard clients say "within the year" only to have major issues with the audit or whatever compliance required to IPO is staggering. Next thing you know it's another 8 months since our initial meeting and IPO is no closer than before.

I'm a lawyer and have been for years, and fricking lmao if you think that being a lawyer or doctor is a chad profession.

Admittedly, lawyers and doctors end up getting more fancy promotion through TV shows, movies, and stuff like that. Problem is, 99.9% of the job is horribly boring and dumb. The best of the best usually end up in law firms doing grinding work for 8-10 hours a day, suffering through the dumbest of bullshit. That applies even when you make partner.

Doctors aren't much better. Sure, it's an even sexier position, but most are just grinding it out in their own way.

In my experience, the "best" professions which are talked about here are actually professions which aren't looked highly upon with women or who have chad guys in them

The beta IST """best""" professions list
    >software virgineer (KEK)
    >IT analyst
    >____ engineer
    >accountant (KEK)
    >"""consultant"""
    >data analyst (KEK)
    >anything involving math or science

Professions with a lot of chad dudes (in my personal experience)
    >cop (like it or hate it, lots of chad dudes here)
    >EMT/firefighter
    >athletic trainer
    >male nurse
    >construction worker
    >military guys (generally)
    >unemployed bum who leeches off GF

Professions women are attracted too (in my experience)
    >all the above, especially male nurse and EMT/firefighter
    >male teacher/professor
    >lawyer/doctor (primarily gold digger reasons)

The disconnect between what IST THINKS is a """chad profession""" that women like and what women ACTUALLY like is mind-boggling, kek. Anything with the term "software" or "engineer" or "analyst" is instant beta bucks virgin autismo signal, it doesn't matter about the money you make. The average American woman makes MORE than the average American man. Women want masculine men (with a "soft side - hence the love for male nurses/teachers) who give them the tingles, not virgineers who work 60 hour weeks using React.
