Is there anyway I can beat the more chad professions like Lawyers and Doctors? Feels like girls think i’m a beta provider cause im an accountant…
Does having a better body than them help or is it insurmountable?

No, you're not considered a lawyer if you don't have a degree in law you fricking moron.
I work for the state in a court of justice. I take you'd consider me a 'lawyer', though I don't have a degree in law, I earn considerably above most lawyers and I even have to lecture some of the most stupid ones on how to do their job from time to time
whatever you do, and whatever your profession is, just be cool. By that I mean don't sweat it, just act like whatever you have or got was effortless. Chad didn't study hard and chad didn't sacrifice a lot to get X. Chad simply got X, and it was pretty easy, too. 'Yeah, I had to study for the exams... fifteen minutes after hahaha'. That sort of thing. As long as you do that, you won't be seen as beta. I work in a setting filled with judges from 1st and 2nd instance, and there are alpha judges and beta judges. The alphas act as if they're baristas, they're not excessively polite, they're pretty laid back, etc. There's no way these guys will ever be seen as beta providers and I almost wanna be like the best of them, only I absolutely hate law and wouldn't stomach it. Women are simpler than that, so as long as you're about half as laid back, you'll be fine. Don't be a nerd, don't act like whatever you have was hard.
also this is correct.
the essence of "coolness" is effortlessness. you have to cultivate a state of pure being-ness. you simply exist in the world as your authentic self, effortlessly competent and entirely secure: "cool".
of course nobody is like this but you achieve the effect honestly by not being anxious about yourself and dishonestly by just concealing it. honest coolness is "chad", dishonest coolness is narcissistic personality disorder.
sprezzatura
i have some accountant friends.
if you are anything like them (and in my experience all accountants are the same) then you are doomed to a life of spending your decent salary enjoying mild thrills from mundane things with your wife and 2.4 children and 2.4 cars.
i don't understand what could drive a man to being an accountant and that's why i'm not one. you people are like the human equivalent of drywall. accountancy and similar paper-pusher jobs exist for that class of person who is smart enough to not want to work a trade but not smart enough for truly independent critical thinking in my opinion.
anyway no, your flaws are interpersonal. but a better body will help you get a better class of girl for you to use to tick the box on your "how to live 101" form.
t. unemployed with a philosophy degree and an IQ over 150. so don't worry, having the biggest brain is very far from everything. frankly you will likely live a very comfortable above-average normalgay life and that is preferable to you than what i will end up with so you're already beating me.
>philosophy degree
>IQ over 150
hahahahahahahahahahahaha
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I like you m8
>t. unemployed with a philosophy degree
yeah, you could have ended it there lmao
>t. unemployed with a philosophy degree and an IQ over 150.
put this in your name field next time so I can skip reading "advice" written by an intelligent moron
Your IQ is not 150 if you do moronic shit like get a philosophy degree
Good god this mentality reeks of immaturity. If this is bait it got me good, I'm seething kek.
This is somewhat true, ever since I got an office job my personality has turned into drywall, office conversations are so fricking awful
Nice satire bro
Its most likely because you are immature. I actually have lawyer and doctor friends and they both think my job is cool doing software development. And I tell them their jobs are cool and will be asking them for help when needed.
Actually its really nice that I am friends with smart people that went to college to get a career.
>circle jerking
>smart people
>we all make 6 figures
>some random anon on IST calls us dumb
Please tell me you are a consultant at big 4 firm.
>Corporate Tax Accountant
Literally cringing so hard rn thinking about it
t. Principal Software Security Architect
Doesn’t really matter. I’m not 300k in debt like them. Being in accounting can be boring but if you’re a CPA you’re doing better than many people. If you equate your job to your self worth then get some other interests.
Try becoming a drug dealer
My dad's an accountant and looking at me and my siblings he got laid at least three times
i'm a CPA and you're fricking moronic if you're still jealous of lawyers and doctors. all of these professions have ridiculous hours which is absolute dogshit for a relationship or family. the real mirin is software engineers because they get insane pay at companies with great perks and few/flexible hours.
i had the chance to do CS instead of accounting. Chose the CPA route. I actually enjoy accounting a lot more than I did coding. Coding side projects was fun but coding in a corporate setting made me want to rope.
Also my job is pretty easy.. a lot of software engineering jobs are very intense (ie the well paid ones) despite how many people post about doing 20 minutes of work a day.
god i wish i specialized in something. i got a MemeBA and am doing project management. Gonna get a PMP. I'm a complete generalist. Should I rope or is this a good thing?
Brother I am going to be completely honest with you. Get ready for this:
You're fine. Connections matter infinitely more than the specific designation for most positions (depending on your goals of course, and only to a certain level). Genuinely don't sweat it.
cpa is based. you can get auditory jobs and then start glowing.
I’m actually studying for my CPA rn. Accounting seems like a decent profession and I’m happy with it
Good luck. You'll do fine on the CPA. Frick REG in the ass but every thing is manageable if you prep correctly.
Accounting is a great, stable profession. But you can do almost anything in the business world with a CPA, so don't close yourself off to only financial reporting or tax roles.
I've done very well for myself. One of the most underlooked values of becoming an accountant is applying the knowledge to your own finances. You should start tracking your finances now as if you are a business. Build it out in Excel and you can just reuse them every year.
Young people are not becoming CPAs at the same rate as boomer CPAs are retiring. There will be a significant shortage at some point according to the AICPA.. you are in a good spot. Just study up.
Thanks bro. I’m currently studying for FAR which is my first test and it’s pretty fricking intimidating. Any tips?
Pay for Becker or (ideally) get your firm to pay for it.
I would look back over your notes from intermediate accounting.
If you don't have a degree in accounting, you have a long, difficult road ahead. You need to probably buy and read books on financial accounting (intro), managerial accounting, and intermediate accounting.
Unfortunately, unlike a lot of other disciplines there are basically NO good free online resources for learning accounting.
I double majored in accounting and MIS. My firm is paying for Becker so I’ve been using that
Reg was easy. AUD and FAR are turbo gay.
Congrats. Just passed mine too.
19 more credits and I get my license. All the other shit is done.
Studying REG right now its the gayest shit ever frick me I hate it. At least its my last one. CPA gud but I really hate working with so many women (big 4)
Yep, frick REG to death, i feel for you.
also yes there is an insane concentration of women in my team, very annoying, but they almost all exodus to recruiting after a busy season or two. the ones that don't take the easy way out are respectable at least (still forever carried by men of course)
>get dibersidy hire :DDD on team
>worst performance rating across the board
>partner steps in and moves her off the client
>replaced with new dibersidy hire :DDD
>process repeats
just lol at big4
flexing on you cuz you're not a cpa yet B)
Its not your job that makes them think that its how you act etc.
There's a majority of beta doctors and lawyers. They become said profession because they think money is the key to success with women - which is basically the definition of beta.
You just have to become the type of man where women see you're the real deal, and not just a slave and ATM.
Alphabux
accounting is fine. hours suck some months of the year, are completely nonexistent in other (i'm fricked til september but late October-mid feb i'm not really working more than a few hours a week).
Big4 is a little overrated, but don't work at some small rando firm.
I make more than all of my friends except the few in STEM who everyone thinks are insufferable because they go on about how literally everyone is in the wrong career path even though it didn't serve their interests.
No one asks you about your job, it's that uninteresting.
The poon is fine, the stability of the work is attractive as long as you have interests that aren't boring as shit. but watch out for the ones that rode the wiener carousel and are just looking for a provider type.
t. big 4 accountant
I went mid-sized and am pretty happy. Still lots of work for typical busy season but chill otherwise. Only mistake I made was being an accountant in Canada. Should have been born in the states.
I’m about to start at a midsize I interned at. Thankfully accounting is more recession proof than most jobs bc this recession is about to hit hard.
There no fricking recession for accountants. My Company desperately looking for a senior accountant.
Plus since zoomers wrote it off and not many people are getting their CPAs the value in the license is about to explode.
Remember to be a CPA you need a CPA to sign off on your hours.
I've been thinking about jumping to mid-size, all our new hires are leaving since they hardly learn anything and get rekt by hours. All our work gets pushed to India now so there's such a lack of entry level hires.
I want to leave but I get to wfh and I have a ton of stability due to the lack of people.
I feel genuinely lucky - got a few friends in big 4 who got absolutely fricked and are totally turned off of accounting. The work I have is hard but my firm is trying really really hard to get staff a good breadth of experience. During my internship I did compilations and reviews (w/ corporate tax return prep), pubco audit, large private audit, small private audit, NPOs, municipalities, credit unions. In addition I got the chance to grind out personal tax returns as well. Feels like a good time to be a CPA boys.
>(i'm fricked til september but late October-mid feb
So you're in tax? Is it really march-september? that's so fricked. In audit it's really just january-early april busy season. Unless you get put on a client with a different fiscal year close which only happens if they are really hurting for staff.
In the summer i'm literally getting paid to shitpost, there is frick all to do in the "planning" stage.
t. b4 audit
in Tax, and no. March/mid April is pretty busy but nothing back breaking, maybe one 50 hour week in there otherwise a full 40-45. late July to Mid September are the rough times. No weekend expectations yet but i'm sure it's happening soon. There's work in between but nothing stressful/overtime. Outside of that is real shitposting hours.
Have a few audit friends and they've been getting fricked by those fiscal year clients due to lack of staff as well.
Damn tax sounds way comfier than audit work balance wise. I just hated tax work itself and prefered the audit side. During january through the end of march I'm working every saturday and some sundays too.
If i get assigned to more than one client it's basically eat sleep audit.
I'm full wfh and planning to exit after 1 busy season as a manager.
Love how it's always the troony gays derailing IST and summergays/tourists falling for the shitty bait.
Hey it's a comfy accounting thread, at least it's not coombait.
become a chemchad
You're an accountant. Get into VC or PE and make more money in a single month than doctors do in a year.
Quit being an insecure fricking moron. Your WBL is better than a doctor and you make more than 90% of lawyers. Develop some interests outside of work and learn how to talk to women.
It depends on your lifestyle. If you're one of those CPAs that grinds during tax season and is literally on vacation 9 months a year then girls will go insane for you.
If you're a 120h a week Deloitte monkey, then yeah, RIP big man.
Can you help me with my taxes? I have some ISOs and I do not know if I should exercise now or wait for new 409a since market pulled back (pre IPO), but we are targeting IPO in next 12-18 months. I am trying to figure out AMT now vs longterm/short term capital gains later. I am also expecting our stock price to dip pretty hard post IPO. Cash comp this year will be ~200k. I have 20k options vesting over 5 years, about 6k vested now, 2k exercised. Strike price: 1.50. Current FMV: 60. After 409a: probably like 30. I could still sell on EquityZen or Forge etc for like 80. Expecting IPO to be like 150.
Most people don’t need a tax accountant. You need a tax accountant and probably a financial analyst unless you want to read up on NPV analysis yourself. IST advice won’t cut it for this situation.
I mean this is heading into financial analysis more than pure tax at this point - I agree with the other anon, you probably should talk to a proper financial analyst and spend 30 min giving them the full rundown. Also how likely is this IPO? The amount of times I've heard clients say "within the year" only to have major issues with the audit or whatever compliance required to IPO is staggering. Next thing you know it's another 8 months since our initial meeting and IPO is no closer than before.
I'm a lawyer and have been for years, and fricking lmao if you think that being a lawyer or doctor is a chad profession.
Admittedly, lawyers and doctors end up getting more fancy promotion through TV shows, movies, and stuff like that. Problem is, 99.9% of the job is horribly boring and dumb. The best of the best usually end up in law firms doing grinding work for 8-10 hours a day, suffering through the dumbest of bullshit. That applies even when you make partner.
Doctors aren't much better. Sure, it's an even sexier position, but most are just grinding it out in their own way.
In my experience, the "best" professions which are talked about here are actually professions which aren't looked highly upon with women or who have chad guys in them
The beta IST """best""" professions list
>software virgineer (KEK)
>IT analyst
>____ engineer
>accountant (KEK)
>"""consultant"""
>data analyst (KEK)
>anything involving math or science
Professions with a lot of chad dudes (in my personal experience)
>cop (like it or hate it, lots of chad dudes here)
>EMT/firefighter
>athletic trainer
>male nurse
>construction worker
>military guys (generally)
>unemployed bum who leeches off GF
Professions women are attracted too (in my experience)
>all the above, especially male nurse and EMT/firefighter
>male teacher/professor
>lawyer/doctor (primarily gold digger reasons)
The disconnect between what IST THINKS is a """chad profession""" that women like and what women ACTUALLY like is mind-boggling, kek. Anything with the term "software" or "engineer" or "analyst" is instant beta bucks virgin autismo signal, it doesn't matter about the money you make. The average American woman makes MORE than the average American man. Women want masculine men (with a "soft side - hence the love for male nurses/teachers) who give them the tingles, not virgineers who work 60 hour weeks using React.
sorry bro nothing chad about counting other people's money.
t. doesnt know what accountants do
The most Chad profession is drug dealer. It's objectively the most attractive to women.
