Was a team comp, had to tag the other guy in to start his ladder.

Was fun, hybrid crossfit, weightlifting, strongman comp.

They cannot comprehend anyone who isn't lifting because of body dysmorphia

Because olympic lifts are technical lifts… which requires technique, skill, and practice to even become “ok” at it.

It's the ultimate white man's lift.
It requires strength, intelligence and patience to master.
Only a Black person would seethe at an olympic lifter.

      >miss jerk

weightlifting is sick as frick if you're strong and proficient at it, and gay and cringe if you are bad.

Everyone that olifts in my gym cleans less than 2 plates. Pretty embarrassing to see honestly since they have belts and shoes and knee wraps and chalk and all this other shit.

Everyone who does it seriously doesn't do it at commerical gyms, they train at WL clubs
There are 3 girls in my club who clean >100kg and 2 of them can snatch 100 too
Nearly every guy is cleaning 140kg+, one of them did a 200kg x 10 squat set the other day
The average strength level is far higher than any commerical gym I've ever been in

Yeah I thought about getting into it but there aren't any gyms within a reasonable distance of me.

It is really fun but I don't know if I would recommend it if you can't train with a club/team. I self taught for a bit and it's night and day with a real coach just like any sport.

      >embarrassing to see the use of shoes, chalk, and wraps for smaller lifts

Trying to do WL movements in a commercial gym is pain, even if you have usable equipment and they let you drop it people are so dumb they just walk in front of you or stand way too close

I know and it’s annoying as frick.
          >setting up for C&J
          >person walks behind me on the platform
          >can never focus as I’m keeping an eye out for a wild moron looking to get crushed

I only do relatively light weights (i.e. weights that I know won't cause me to lose balance), and I just ignore them. You're always a lot more paranoid and overestimate how close others are when you're doing a lift, I find.
In any case, if you're doing really heavy weights, then can't you just wait until it's clear. It's not like you wouldn't need exorbitant amounts of rest at that point anyway.

I just remember it being consistently annoying. Training at a dedicated club you don't deal with this.

I used to think people who slam weights were DYELs who couldn't handle more than one rep, and if you can't complete the full rep of bringing it up and down, you shouldn't be ego lifting that much as a half rep
