Cutting

Instead of cutting, why can’t a fat person just eat 2000 calories a day for the rest of their life and never adjust the calories ever ?

2000 cals a day will make them all eventually go down to the healthy lean weight

So why all the messing around with calories?

Put a 200lb fat gut on 2000 calories and he will be 150lb eventually

Put a 300lb obese guy on 2000 calories and he will be 150lb eventually

Put a 400lb morbidly obese guy on 2000 calories and he will be 150lb eventually

So why doesn’t anyone just do this?

Not that anon but for starters what you have attempted to describe is a cut. In short you just made a thread saying the following
        >instead of cutting why don’t people just cut
        Or
        >instead of reducing calorie intake why don’t people just reduce calorie intake

YOU don’t know what you’re talking about. I believe I understand what you were attempting to say but you don’t know what you’re talking about. You meant to say “instead of doing a massive deficit to lose the fat quicker, why don’t people just run a small deficit that’s easier to sustain so in the long run they lose fat.”
        Also
        >150lbs
        How short are you

      >counting calories meme
Ancient Greeks didn't measure calories yet they were aesthetic, lean and IST as frick. Instead of counting calories like an autist just eat a well balanced Mediterranean diet with moderation and avoid the Anglo goyslop (sugar, condiments, fast junk food).

if your stomach is stretched out just eating a specific diet plan might not work that well, as someone who's dieted using whole foods from obese I'm still hungry. Also with CICO even if you're eating trash and getting lean that's better than nothing, atleast you're doing something you can stick to, and being lean is still a huge health benefit in itself.

If you want to lose weight faster you simply increase activity and keep calories at 2000

The calories never need to be adjusted

Use exercise to enhance the speed

yeah you can technically do that, which is what I'm doing right now to finish up my cut, & I'd recommend it if you can, but if you hate exercise or have an injury, you can always just cut cals.

      Cope

2000 cal intake equates to weighing about 150lb as a male no matter what height, race, diet or whatever else you want to input

2000 cals per day average intake causes a human on planet earth to weigh approx 150lb

and in reality you will hit a plateau in few weeks, maybe a month or two and then you have to lower calories and/or increase activity.
        And then the cycle repeats.

          Nope

A 2000 calorie intake per day always leads to a bw of 150lb or so

Your body doesnt become magically immune to going down in weight because youve been at the same calorie intake for a long time. Energy is energy.

                so explain this:
                I was 220lbs at 6'2"
I once cut at 2000 calories and walked 5 miles a day.
After about 6 weeks and was down to 205lbs, all weight loss stopped.
I plateaued at this point for about a month and didnt lose any more weight until a dropped down to 1700 calories. Hit another plateau 2 weeks later at 200lbs then call it quits.
This is not hypothetical. This actually happened. According to you I should have kept losing weight until I was 150lbs skeleton.

Fat loss is 100x slower than you think it is. You didn't hit a plateau, you just got sick of counting your calories and gave up in after a short period of time. You're probably not including any cheat meals or cheat days you had during that time / you didn't autistically count properly and weren't actually eating 2000 calories on average. Your cheat meals/days/incorrect counting brought your average daily upto 2500-3000 calories most likely as thats about as much as it requires to maintain 200lb

After some research we found out that your metabolism slows down and he started working out and did start losing again. I don't know why you can't understand. It is well documented and well understood that your bodies metabolism can and does slow down on long calorie deficits.

Your metabolism slows down as your weight goes down, yes. Thats common sense, but does it not mean you have hit a wall.

Your rate of fatloss just slows down as you get closer to the energy balance you're consuming.

Not significantly it can't. If it could slow down significantly, no one could starve to death. You might slow down 100 cal per day but that's max.

If you're still doing your normal routine you will still burn normal calories.

I probably do around 1600-1800 cals per day and I plateaued at 131 lb. I'm 5'8". I've been stable at this weight the past 6 months but I am slowly also getting more defined which means recomp.

It's definitely a reasonable approach. Better than bulking and cutting which is just spinning in cirlces.

If my body fat gets a few pounds lower I will increase the calories a bit and try to gain more but only very small amount.

It only takes 2700 cals or so to build a pound of muscle I believe. That is absolutely negligible. You dont' need big surpluses unless you're on steroids. Gaining 5-10 lb per year is like an extra 50-100 cals per day at most.

Cutting is a way to lose muscle while keeping fat and is for body building, not for fats. Fats think they need to diet for a temporary amount of time which is a scam. Being skinny is a lifestyle.

you would lose fat on 2000 calories of chocolate you just would lose muscle from eating like 30g of protein a day and probably feel like you're starving because you're not eating enough mass
you can eat as balanced of a diet you want but you're not gonna lose fat if you're eating too much

just stop trying to be a contrarian ffs the amount of energy you eat is what matters if the goal is simply fat loss that's the message not that you should eat 1000 calories of ice cream

This is what Greg Doucette advocates. Just stick to a standard daily intake and work out regularly. If you want lower body fat, make the intake a mild deficit. If you can accept higher body fat, make it a mild surplus.

It has been slow but I have trimmed my body fat better this way as a skinnyfat guy over the past two years than with bulk/cut attempts which just gained fat and burned muscle each time.

Bulk/cut is for guys on steroids or who can gain large amounts of muscle with large calorie surpluses
