Unless you're Weightlifting or you compete in a powerlifting federation, there's no point in using a hook grip and smashing the frick out of your thumbs when you could just use straps.

This. They literally accomplish the same thing.

          >it stops hurting after a week and is good for grip strength
It stops hurting because of nerve damage, and it doesn't do anything for grip because you're just using your thumbs as straps. You want a strong grip do grip specific exercises

You aren't using straps though. You are only using your hand. I'm not convinced the pain only goes away from nerve damage either. I tried it 3 times until I had no pain, each time weeks apart, and the first 2 times I probably only held it for 30 seconds. The 3rd time had no pain. I doubt I got nerve damage from holding a hookgrip 2 times and weeks apart. And wouldn't there be loss of strength in your hand if you were damaging the nerves?

Well, no, because hook grip trains your grip more than straps do. Whether you need that extra training is another question, but they aren't the same.

There's no evidence to show that it trains your grip. And even if it does it's an extremely inefficient way to do so. Just go do grip exercises for Christ's sake

            >no you can't just do hookgrip
            >you should use straps for your training
            >and then also do grip training
            No thanks moron

double overhand and magically derplifts does not need more recovery than squat. max effort for repsdeads with secure grip are max effort eccentric exercise for erectors. they struggle to manrltainncurve and lenghten under load during lifting.

Based noticer. Huge hands help mechanically but aren’t a necessity. Alligator arms are king for most lifts. Got some absolute freaks with short ass arms holding big records when you’d expect a Shaq-sized guy who was larger overall to be at the top.
