>destroys your shoulders

is there any reason i see so many new dyels trying this in the gym? do they just not know better?

Post physique
post body OP. but you wont.
Its one of the most fun lifts, and having a higher bench than someone else is one of the most popular ways to claim physical superiority
bench is easily the most impressive ego lift or way to mog on people in the gym, and it's easily the most psychologically terrifying/impressive one... in no other exercise do you have so much weight in a position to fall on you and injure yourself, and that's definitely part of what makes it look so impressive.
OP if you are hurting your shoulder from bench you are 100% doing it with terrible form and you sound like someone who has been lifting for only a month, who gets on the bench and just wrenches their shit around trying to get the bar up. Depress scaps, create tension in back by activating lats, lock shoulders back/down, tuck elbows... anyone not doing this most basic form work deserves to have a shoulder impingement
>psychologically terrifying/impressive
Nah, for bench weight to be scary, you need to be well out of dyel status. 2plate on your chest is really not a big deal.
>in no other exercise do you have so much weight in a position to fall on you and injure yourself,
high level roidaroo squatting and these moronic kids doing super narrow grip on squats and breaking their arms
>hurting your shoulder from bench you are 100% doing it with terrible form
Ive found its grip, arch, and volume related.
people have died with less than 2pl8
you are doing bench wrong if you main goal is to hit pecs and you aren't really getting it. wider grip, flatter arch, and less elbow tuck works well
i really dont like bench presses, but its great for gaining strength. there are way better chest exercises but bench gives you strength so i do it during my push days
>best chest exercise to progressive overload and therefor get stronger in any other chest movement
Cope harder dyel and keep doing those dumbbell press with sub 2pl8 babbyweight
It's fine but much better with a cambered bar
However for max chest gains for muscle you should be doing flies whatever variations you want that is the chest muscles job to adduct your arms
How do you bench without adducting your arms, moron?
Anon is talking about the ROM not the fact benching doesn't cause addiction hence the mention of cambered bars as they let your stretch go even deeper
you unaesthetic physique
how so?
FACT:
Only gigadyels hate bench
ITT: The ugly and the fat.
this. it's embarrassing how much they're seething at their own existence.
Id put myself in the category. 10 years ago you’d have to queue up to use the bench press, now I dont see anyone else using it except for me. I guess times have changed.
I hated bench and all but refused to do it because I was a gay oly memer and thought that it was just a dumb bro lift and all I needed was muh squats
Now that I got my bench to 3pl8, I'm realizing that bench is king and only hate myself for being weak at bench
One day I will bench 4pl8. That'll show all those kids who bullied me in high school ten years ago. I'll fricking show them.
Bro grow up jfc
>One day I will bench 4pl8. That'll show all those kids who bullied me in high school ten years ago
me and the other kids all got together and we agree anything less than 5 plates means you're still a pussy and we will continue to laugh at you
this. imagine failing 4pl8.
don't end up like pic
>cope back arch
>still fails
Lel
I prefer iso lateral horizontal bench. It's fun.
Still I kind of miss benching.
This and bicep curls are whats shown in every movie when someone is “working out” its popular because its in pop culture. But aside from that, its a compound lift, which benefits everything else you do. You should be doing them all if you want to get stronger and have a balanced physique. Id ask you to post body, but i already know you dont lift. Go back to /mlp/
The only time I actually hurt my shoulder from benching, was when I had a friend peer pressure me into benching 2 plates with no warmup on my leg day. But that was for obvious reason. Other than that, I’m almost at 3pl8s and my shoulders feel great.
I’ve seen more shoulder injuries from dumbbell press than barbell bench. My guess is because the barbell is a fixed position, you can’t lower the bar past your chest. Where as all the meme lifters who only do dumbbells because “Muh extra stretch” think that means to lower the dumbbells way lower than you’re supposed to go as opposed to bringing the dumbbells closer at the top of the movement
Post body
OP confirmed for not lifting
>mogs bench
>less ROM than bench
>mogs bench
...
its a good tool to target chest. you could do all machines, like many bodybuilders do, and grow a good chest
it's genuinely a better movement for hypertrophy. it goes inward at a slight angle so the handles almost touch at the top of the movement. maximum pec activation
Gym has a tonne of these machines, working every bloody angle imaginable. Am I missing out not using them?
Yes. They're good machines
bench is great if your goal is to bench more
but if your goal is to build a chest and get strong, there's way better alternatives
>gym oneitis is benching
>her arms are nearly parallel
>tell her "hey, you're benching a bit wide, might hurt your shoulders haha!"
>she says "okay thanks" and then never see her again
frick you b***h I hope your shoulders hurt when Jamal barebacks you
>Autist gives gymcrush shitty unsolicited advice and is surprised she doesn't want to talk to you
Black personcell
aye bro wtf
Odd take. You ever see what a shirtless nfl linebacker looks like? You think they got that way doing dumbbell flies or bench pressing?
copious amounts of gear, the best trainers in the world, and working out for 10 hours a day 6 days a week
Probably doing bench press.
>copious amounts of gear
They get drug tested randomly and frequently.
You really think the best of the best in a sport that pays millions of dollars would have no incentive to take PED. A sport where their training, diet and health is in the hands of professionals also paid a shit load. Any high tier professional athlete is on gear to help aid in strength, speed and recovery
>gives you unaesthetic physique
how lol
but yes it's functionally useless, like almost all weightlifting lmao
What's dysfunctional about being stronger and bigger?
it's unnatural (there are no barbells in nature)
incline machine, dumbbell, and cables are scientifically proven to build more muscle than a shitty barbell
Where's the science?
>a dozen dyels in the gym benching
>maybe 1 other person doing OHP, the aesthetic exercise
