The transition to agriculture stunted average height due to malnourishment from relying on the same grains and animals, and this is the case until the country is rich enough that hunger and consequently nutrition isn't too big of a deal for most people.

At the time of the mongol conquests, northern china had already been conquered by other nomadic peoples like the Khitans and Jurchens who were very similar to the Mongols. The mongols then exhaustively recruited Chinese siege engineers and used their cutting edge weapons to btfo Song dynasty China, the Persians, and Arabs. Their supposed physical superiority was not a decisive factor.

There are some cultures that are grain fed and some which are fat fed... the carb/fat debate aka "keto vs troony" debate is really about what the source of energy is.

eskimos, pre-agrarian peoples such as the irish and mongols and aboriginals seem to be on team keto. The original Irish, pre-agriculture, ate no real carbs other than what was in milk and wild plants.

virtually all agrarian peoples are on team carb. i think it has been established that a heavy carbohydrate diet will prevent starvation, but it doesn't seem to do much else. looking at the difference in jaws and teeth for instance, between keto people like eskimos, aboriginals, etc. is pretty astonishing. if you're raised on a heavy carb, post-agrarian diet, it's pretty clear: you are nutrient deficient.

the purpose of a carbohydrate is to provide energy and prevent starvation. that's all it's doing. keeping you alive. even when there is nutrition in carbs, there are so many things that irritate the stomach and interfere with nutrient absorption. the fact of the matter is that you can do hardly better than a diet of
animal products and slightly cooked vegetables.

any study that purports danger for the heart due to a keto diet, or a diet high in red meat, never controls for smoking, obesity, exercise level, etc. most of them are surveys, which leave it up to the person surveyed to try to remember what they've eaten over the course of a period of time. are they lying? are they misremembering? with a survey, you have no idea.

I know it can be hard to believe that the
    >"le heckin' basederino SCIENCE!!!"
can be wrong, but in the case of nutrition science, it almost certainly is. aside from vitamin C, animal based products are the best thing you can eat. especially eggs and meat.

if you never exercise, and suck down 32 ounces of coke and half a vat of rancid peanut oil fried potatoes along with your red meat, that's on you. it has nothing to do with the nutrient quality of liver, steak, pork,
