Yeah I live in Indiana. Guess what. 40x times cheaper. Bigger houses. More natural. Better laws. My house has its own pond and a community of neighbors that preserve wildlife and stock our pond with fish. We also play hockey on the ice when it freezes.

All you have in Oregon is hipsters and hipsters pretending to be lumberjacks

Lmao Indiana is a povertous shithole. Your state steals all of your state tax dollars. Your roads are small and rarely fixed. Your tollway is a ripoff. And you have the highest amount of blacks and homosexuals in the Midwest.

Oregon coastal towns are fricking solid. It helps that they're probably the only spots on the west coast guaranteed to not have Commifornians hogging the real estate.

It's still like that. You're also rich as frick if you make 6 figures with remote work. Land and labor is cheap. There's not a lot of jobs but if you work in CS/IT and make more than 40k/yr you'll be rich compared to everyone. Women are pretty out here too because mountaineering is a massive hobby and physical fitness is required for most trade jobs, which are 90% of the jobs around here.

You forgot the part where they all have vitamin d deficiency and now they are all depressed and suicidal. Oregon is in the top 10 states of suicide btw. Even higher than Indiana and you're the one calling us the shithole

Everyone is white here so they drink vitamin D milk. Regardless of suicide rates (which is more based than dying in a hospital) Oregon's life expectancy is two years higher for both men and women. Indiana is one of the top trucker states and can't even upkeep their roads lmao. I haven't seen a trucker in years. No gay meth-heads around here either.

I'd definitely rather kill myself than live in Indiana, the state with the highest HIV/AIDS due to drug abuse.

Frick, I was going to look back on those days with happy nostalgia and give up on Oregon. Now I might have to make a trip out there to see if it's worth settling down at some point. Thanks dude. Go hiking this weekend.

I have noticed this too. I think fitness becoming increasingly mainstream has made contempt for new year's resolutioners mainstream too, so the socially-adhering minds of the masses stay away from it since it makes them feel disliked.

Years ago someone pointed out to me that the resolutioners usually peak at about 1-3 months in. It’s a combo of being hungover after New Years, then being a weak willed resolutioner who’s gonna drag their feet, and them thinking gyms are most crowded Jan 1st. Give it a few weeks

Although I think coof played a role in this plus what other anon said

I’ll probably get Clinton’d for this but I’m pretty sure quarantine was to get as many people glued to their devices as possible. And with the IST ~esque tier fitness memes that flooded all social media it wouldn’t be surprising if that’s what’s happening

Just to further prove your point: my Tinder bio is literally just shitty IST memes from 2012 and it works, we're a couple of years away from a major figure saying *tips fedora* in public

Have noticed this two. Have only seen like 2 newbies so far. But then again I go in the morning. I imagine the gym is packed after 6pm.

They turned up at my gym in force, but all left in the span of 5 minutes shortly before 12pm, because as you know lunch time is exactly 12pm and if you don't eat 2000 calories of goyslop at that moment it means you have an eating disorder. I saw 2 fatties at Subway after I left and I recognised them from the gym. They think they deserve a reward for exercising.

I've been going around 6-7 every night and other than a few new faces it really hasn't become more crowded.

The anti-fitness propoganda has been ramped up this past year, I'm fine with people choosing to become sedentary blobs to avoid the label of "racism"

I wanted to add to this, the few tourists I saw were on Monday evening, mostly fat chick's slow walking ellipticals to the point they're not even sweating. But I have seen heavier people that seem more dedicated, the weird thing is all of them have started with medicine ball slams. I get that it's a great full body workout to ease you into everything but it's been like 5 different people doing it.

I notice the same and I think that's whats happening, OP. Not too many people are going to the gym for their New Year's resolution, but at the same time I also think (and I'm just guessing) that it might be because going to the gym has become more normalized nowadays? Either they were already going before and are still going now or, if they aren't going now, they were before and they just stopped but plan to hop back on in the next few weeks or months.

Honestly I can't really fault anyone for it, life is a bit harder now and things are way too expensive, having a membership especially to a commercial gym is not cheap so I understand if people don't go and look for alternatives.

I went to mine New Years day and it was a ghost town. Which I loved because less time I had to wait to get on a machine I needed.
