Dislocated Knee Struggling to Mentally Recover

Hey IST

Fucking roast me all you want but I dislocated my patella during wrestling practice and I feel like my entire world has been rocked

I can't train even if I wanted to I can barely fucking walk to my fridge without using crutches

I'm waiting to get an mri done to see if there's further damage which I suspect due to my knee still being swollen like a fucking balloon several days later.

Struggling to cope with the fact that I can't train or do anything and it feels like my brain is going to explode how do people who don't workout live everyday?

Can't train upper body? Or you mean can't train wrestling. That sucks anon but you will get through this. Embrace the challenge and struggle. Surpass all expectations on your recovery. You've got this.

You can still train upper body with minimum equipment while you recover. Things like resistance band pullaparts. Also could focus on grip work. Grip training has carryover to wrestling.

Bands and since you are forced sedentary and bedridden I would highly recommend power twister bars. You can find a video where Eric Bugenhagen a wrestler talks about them and how they build up squeezing power which has Cary over to wrestling. I purchased one and I can definitely swear by them actually being extremely effective. Really helped me learn to isolate my chest and now I understand how to really bear hug squeeze something and I am not a wrestler.

Not to mention the twister bars added all kinds of definition to my arms and delts and chest. They give absolutely freakish pumps and I feel like holding the tension around halfway which is very difficult activates tiny muscles and portions of the muscles iv never been able to hit before. Tiny details in my arms delts and chest started to show only after I started cranking out reps on spring twister bars or whatever they are called.

It's like 4 week rehab by doing low impact quad exercises. I never even saw a doctor for my second one.

I was in a wheelchair 3.5 years ago due to a spinal injury. It absolutely sucked and the mental breakdown and depression was just as bad if not worse than the physical. It took me a few months to realize that I can still train what little I could and spent a lot of time doing isolations. I'm up and walking again but I made a lot of gainz for muscles that are hard to grow without an absurd amount of volume. My calves for example would get treated to 20-40 sets of 50 reps of heavy weight.

Take this time to calm your mind while still exploring all the possibilities of becoming the best you can be.

I had my kneecap pop out of the socket about 10 years ago. After the gypsum period I went and did physiotherapy to regain mobility. This may sound obvious but you shouldn't ego lift on squats anytime soon, lest you weaken the knee again (don't ask). Also no matter how depressed you may feel, make sure to watch your calories.
You'll get through this anon, you just need patience right now.
