Do people really smile at each other?

Like if you see a cute girl in public do you make eye contact and smile at her?
I am too shy to even look at people.

Only good looking people do that. Generally speaking, no woman will give you a positive signal if you don't at least look somewhat attractive to you, because you could be a weirdo that misinterpretes her smile as an invitation.

2nd glance only, if its the first eye contact and you smile you look like a psycho. I make eye contact once, look away, then about 3 seconds later I look again. When you make eye contact for the second time just maintain eye contact- shell look away again, just keep looking until she meets your eyes again (3rd time). Then you can smile, if she smiles back then go talk to her.

It sound austistic when I break it down like that but its kind of automatic for me, always seems to work for me. Works for guys and girls

No, I'm not your shy teenage boygroup fantasy twink.

I'll smile directly at you and you always smile back. I have never not gotten a smile back.

How are you guys getting smiles back? Whenever I make eye contact with a girl and smile at her she either looks away or looks disgusted.

A smile and a small nod is my "I don't want to properly greet you but I acknowledge you" signal and mostly people just smile back so yes I guess we do

Try to be positive. If people don't smile back it's ok because you're a good person.

Don't smile at women. Look away and then smile (a little) but do it so it's visible.

Nah you just look like a weirdo that has to force social interaction. If it's not natural then don't do it because we can immediately tell you read how you should act around other people on the internet.

    >TFW ass burgers
    >TFW my brain going "huh she seems to be smiling at maybe, maybe I should smile back" takes like 5 seconds minimum. Meaning usually the eye contact has been broken or I look like a laggy NPC
    Such is life

I smile at people when walking in the park, i've noticed the older the people the more they interact.
Old people(60+) will wave and say "hello" or "good morning"
30-50yo will mostly smile and nod and say "hi"
Under 30yo and most don't even look, it's like they are afraid to make any sort of contact
