Do they actually build mass?

Do they actually build mass? I can only do 6-10 pushups per set so would I lose out on doing 4-5 sets of 6-10 pushups as opposed to 4-5 sets of 6-10 bench presses?

Do you feel your muscles used after? Then it worked. If not, you did it wrong. A PROPER pushup is hard. Straight neck, spine and legs, elbows to the sides, down slow, chest to ground and up fast.

If you're a noob then sure bro but just remember to use progressive overload once you advance
    >When should I started adding weight
Use picrel as a reference I guess

You build mass on up to sets of 30. Its diminishing returns after 20 reps though. Once you hit that point for your top set either add weight or use a harder variation

They do and can. Not as good as higher weight but yes, people pretending they don't are moronic. Just remember to consider push ups light weight so very high volume and high intensity are needed as well as food. Do hundreds of them and eat or face the sad reality of being a 50 push ups pencil neck drowning in his size M t-shirt.

If you're doing hundreds of them then you're basically doing cardio which isn't bad per se but probably not what OP is looking for.

Make sure you're doing them right...
(those are low numbers? prob a newbie but whatever)

    >push ALL THE WAY out
    >round the shoulders forwards
    >let your shoulders slide back into standard position
    >slowly lower, and get your lats (big back muscles) involved...
    >repeat until you use your lats automatically

And yeah, they work... IF you've got good form

Give more tips for other things like abs, pull ups and jump squats please. I'm going to do a 5x12 circuit of them

Pullups... one handed dangles are easily the best way to slowly build grip strength for those. If you can't hold on for long, just dangle as long as you can - jump and slowly lower yourself if you have to.
        >don't rush this... grip endurance takes AGES to develop.

Abs... use the pullup bar and do leg raises - better than crunches and can be used instead of pullups if you're tired.

Jump squats... get a bottle of water, half filled, and hold it out front when doing them. The sloshy water will force you to use better squat form or you'll lose your balance.
        >when in doubt get into bottom position and shake the water bottle in all directions
        >you'll feel this in your arse if you do it right
        >don't start jumping until your form feels tight

Yes, they build hella mass. Try doing a few hundred every day and add like 50 pull ups and you'll see crazy results in a few months.

Like five sets of 20 for a few weeks every day. Tried keeping my arms close to my sides to target the triceps instead of chest.

Bros I love doing knuckle pushups, getting all the way down to the floor and then pushing back feels so good. Take the knucklepill.

My knuckles are too puny atm. I need to be on a rug or something to do, like, fifteen at most.

If you can't do more than 30, yes, they will work.
