The LAs in my area are VERY crowded, have broken, outdated equipment, and they’re very dirty. Plus they’re full of pretentious boomers who give me creepy looks. Seriously thinking of switching to PF
I’ve destroyed my doorway trim with my pull up bar finally. Figure it’s a sign I need to actually go to a gym. Unfortunately PF is the only one close to me that’s open when I get off work. What can I expect at planet fitness machine/equipment wise? Is it worth my time? At home I just do a lot of push ups and have dumbbells.
Also I need to work on my social skills.
Mine is the same, except it has only 4 smith machines, but a few shitty barbells

Do you guys like Planet Fitness?
If you can afford/are close enough to any other normal gym, go for that instead. If not, it's not the end of the world. They're not nearly as abysmal as people make it out, especially for noobie gains, but it largely depends on the specific location as they're very different from one to the other
the only gym within 15 mins of me is PF, and im not driving 20 minutes one way to workout
but no, its dogshit and i hate that they only have smith machines.OHP and DL feel like shit on a smith machine.
it gets the job done though, still seeing good gains
Pros: it's cheap.
Cons: the barrier to entry is almost nonexistent. Thus it remains perpetually overcrowded. Limited selection of equipment, which basically means no selection due to overcrowding.
No. No barbells so minimal gains. Although they have more women than most gyms.
planet fitness isn't a gym so this is offtopic
Still better than LA
How so?

Brilliant marketing. A gym for people who hate the gym and will never go to it but will never cancel either because membership is so cheap.
there are homeless people who subscribe to PF just to go there and take showers
I did that, I switched states and bought a second car before I got a place.
only in america can something as retarded as planet fitness exist

PF near me is 75% cardio equipment. there are 5 smith machines, no barbells, and the DBs only go up to 80
there are 3 universal cable machines (4 sided), and the rest is other various machines
