Do you like to exercise as if it's a hobby, or is it something you have to force yourself to do like a chore?

It feels like a chore until I've done it. Then I feel happy.

But a snowstorm kept me away from the gym until now. Might go midnight though. I dread it but I know I will feel good afterward

I enjoy bench press, ohp, rows, dips, pullups, calf raises, curls
I do back extensions, squats and leg machines as a chore
I will never do deadlift again. I don't enjoy it and I don't consider it a chore. I will develop the same muscles in ways that are safe and fun. I'll be lifting forever so I don't care if it's 10% slower than sharting strength.

No need to be insecure, no one was gonna ask if you were weak or not.

teach me how 2 enjoy barbell rows sensei, cause it's the least favorite exercise in my routine; I hate getting into position and trying to keep my back straight and sticking out my ass

Hobby, I really enjoy hitting maxes and going to the gym. I've only been going since Feb though so maybe I'll become more of a chore one day.

Weightlifting is a chore, cardio is a mix of a chore/fun, but they help for the exercises I enjoy: kickboxing and dancing.

The vast majority of men involved in ballroom dance fall into two camps: the mildly autistic software engineers who genuinely enjoy dancing and the beta men who have no other means to engage with women. The ratio in the ballroom community is very favorable.

Buddy, if you're not only on IST for the lolz but also work out, you have a big advantage either way

lol I'm the other poster and I'm a mildly autistic software engineer. I sincerely enjoy it, even when I have a gf, I continue to dance, half the girls I dated liked coming with me, half didn't.

Lol it really is true, isn't it. My long-term ex was really into ballroom and so I learned to dance and would go with her to events. I became friends with the software engineers but there were more than a few beta men who confided in me they only did this to meet women. And then of course you also have the creepy old guys who are only doing it to touch younger women.

I enjoy and look forward to lifting. In the beginning it was very much a chore to get myself to go lift, but after I started making progress, and people I don't see very often started asking me if I've been working out, it became much easier to stay motivated. Once I started approaching 1/2/3/4, it became even easier. Squats are the only lift that I don't really enjoy, but they don't feel like a chore, although I don't push myself as hard on those as I do all the other compounds.

    It's complicated.

Began as a chore, with some validation after each workout that I did some good for myself.

I finally took a routine and modified to fit my needs, and started to feel less like it was a chore.

Right after that some really awful shit went down in my life that fucked me up real good. I turned to lifting as a means to gain progress in one of the limited ways under my control, among other reasons like: not wanting people to view me as weak anymore, gaining more confidence.

Ever since then I look forward to the gym and am no longer afraid that I'll eventually give up and lose my gains like I have repeatedly in the past.

So, my advice is just have a horrible crisis happen that essentially ends your previous life and causes you to start from scratch, you'll see it as a constructive outlet that brings you comfort rather than a chore to be dealt with like cleaning the gutters.

It's a hobby if there's ass and booba to look at. If it's a sausage fest in the gym, it's a chore and I have to browseIST to drool over muscle mommies and boost my test.

I find existential bliss in struggling and overcoming difficulty. Endorphin high and improved sleep is a nice bonus. I was also a dumpy skinnyfat rejected by women in my youth, so I have a vanity streak as well. I'm not sure this qualifies as a hobby or a chore, more of an aspiration?

If I go 3 days without lifting I feel terrible. I can't remember a time when I had to force myself to go to the gym. Whenever I see a motivation thread I can't understand why anyone would need that. It's like eating ir drinking or sleeping; fundamental and essential.

Cardio is a chore lifting is fun but I do both every day because the path to strength is not an easy one.
