      this. need the mires.

      No, large traps look ridiculous.

lol homosexuals who think that occasional shrugs give them bodybuilder tier ridiculous traps are like girls who think touching a barbell makes them too manly

        this.
traps are ridiculously hard to grow in size, even with isolating exercises.

Yes I do dumbbell shrugs. I didn't do them for several years but added them to my routine couple weeks ago again.
I don't see why you wouldn't unless your life is literally so busy that you simply CANNOT spend another 5 minutes in the gym once a week. It's a muscle just like anything else and if you isolate them you will see gains. I added 5 reps in a week to my shrugs, just after doing them once. There's really no reason to not keep the entirety of your body in shape.

yeah dude you will just accidentally gain so fricking freaky amounts of lean muscle mass and blow your traps and look like an ifbb pro yeah totally gonna happen bro better lay off the traps haha

          newbies and dyels
you use traps from shoulder stabilization in nearly every exercise known to man. they get big quickly.

since you are the expert right here, what would you say it's better to grow the traps? High reps/volume like shoulders or go heavy on the isolated lifts?

              Anonymous

the traps grow directly proportional to the amount of regular weight and activation put forth on them.
For instance you use your traps when you countersway your arms during a walk.
So add 5lbs to your arms and just walk. Your traps will grow larger to compensate.
A lot larger than just doing a few shrugs with some dumbells.

See a common issue is people confuse trap tautness with trap size.
With large weighted shrugs the traps like to squeeze together (usually causing stiff neck or back problems), but once you stretch them out again they aren't actually any bigger (or relatively larger to be more accurate) than if you just didn't exercise them.

Just do heavy diddlies and heavy shrugs, light weights do frickall for traps

        >lol homosexuals who think that occasional shrugs give them bodybuilder tier ridiculous traps are like girls who think touching a barbell makes them too manly
this is moronic, any increase in muscle will make me more manly, it's not that we fear turning into shehulk, it's that ANY mass increase is undesirable.

No, my traps get enough attention from other exercises. At least to the extent I want. I don't need to isolate them.

Traps are extremely unaesthetic. If I could restart my weight lifting escapades I'd ignore them completely.

when i see someone, specially natty, with large traps i know thats a person that goes to the gym and lifts
when i dont, thats someone thats destined to look like a dyel
now someone with traps AND broad, juicy shoulders? thats a god on earth right there

Reminder to newbie dyels: You will NEVER have to worry about having too big of an upper back

Everyone I see with big traps is a shoulderlet like in OP's pic. Every single one is a beanpole. I've never seen an exception besides some roiding gigahomies who everyone knows isn't natty and has been juicing since 13.

      moron

      this.
traps are ridiculously hard to grow in size, even with isolating exercises.

My Traps are naturally big and respond extremely well to stimulation.

Ignore the guy dissing your insertions. If you’re natural your traps look great. One of the most important muscles for looking strong in a shirt and with normies. If they don’t think you’re roiding you’ll seem super strong to them since traps are hard to grow naturally.

Thanks, yeah I'm natty and older, almost 40. For some reason shrugs are disproportionately easy for me compared to other lifts. Was just unsure if I'm building a shitty physique because of them since my shoulders aren't that wide to begin with.

      Based traps.

Just do lateral raises while leaning forward. Blasts traps and rear delts.

This. If you're doing laterals, OHP, barbell rows and deadlifts, isolating traps is not really necessary. For beginners wanting to look good in a t shirt it's not a bad idea though. They are easy to train and easy to gain.
