I admire his efforts but my respect for him is limited. Pretty sure he lacks impulse control and is why "run until you die" always pops into my head why I see a pic of him. He is a try hard as said but it is an extreme borne out of the opposite extreme of sloth. Not sure if he takes gear but I would not be surprised if he did. Injuries pile up. He always seems supportive of his fans. I hope he doesn't turn out like L____ K___.

Pretty much this. Hes a tryhard cringelord but at least hes try harding with fitness. Millions of people workout and are fit. You don't hear them all trying so hard to be a motivator. It reminds me of the people on LinkedIn who keep trying to post shit nobody gives a frick about a label it as "motivation".

by virtue of what he says and does/ has done, there is no logical explanation why anyone would not respect him

he has appeared on programs that make people seethe which is in itself whatever

and yeah the idea of "damage your physical self beyond repair in order to bolster your mental and spiritual self" is moronic

but yeah there's really no justification to not respect him, he mogs every single person in this thread right now

I dont necessarily respect their advice, personality, or actions, but I respect the dedication and work hours to be fitter than me. Anything less is cope.

I heard about him only because joe rogan recorded a podcast with him and released it the other day, seems like he has some good ideas about motivation but the intensity of his endurance exercises and weightlifting supersets (low weight, many reps) is something I would never want to do. That's just his way of life and as he explained in the podcast he 'explores the darkness' of those difficult moments during running etc to learn about life and do some introspection this way. He also said that his body has been fricked up since birth but he trained nevertheless and fricked his knees even more hence these operations, if he was born healthy he'd prob be fine

He is an attention seeking homosexual IMO.

He's a little much at times but overall yes, he can run 100 miles, I can't. He made it through BUDS, I didn't. I respect feats like that and those who accomplish them and I acknowledge that I can learn from those people.

No he's super fricking irritating without actually offering a remotely interesting worldview.

He's a great endurance runner, and thats it. I respect him as mich as any other athlete.

Yes, Goggins is a real inspiration.
He is the ultimae "Mind over matter" guru.

Like any other Guru, you shouldn't become a full blown fanboy and fall into the trap of a parasocial relationship.

But compared to most other role-models, he's very cool and trustworthy.
I like people who are brutally honest and he's one of these people.
His drive and his honesty is why I like the guy.

And you shouldn't like someone just because others do.
Always make your own opinion, don't be a sheep.

there's nothing really new or unique he has to tell me I couldn't come up with myself, that doesn't make actually doing full moron shit like he talks about easy of course but I don't see a lot of value in listening to someone rant about what a hardass he is without anything else to make it worthwhile

barely-literate groid who can't string together more than a few sentences at a time. he's good at running I guess. laughable that people admire him when there's presumably scores or hundreds of people who pass BUDS yearly

His extreme push-your-self-over-the-limit mentality has brainwashed one of my friends completely.

Said friend now thinks he is hot shit and acts all tough but in reality he´s one of the biggest DYELS I have ever encountered.
And also turned into one big contrarian, if you dont run TWICE per day you are a fricking loser, if you ask him.

Said friends is 38 years old and talks about alphas, betas, views women as tools etc.
He should fit in nicely here on IST.

Iam tired IST, my friend was a better person before he got hooked up on Goggins.

Incredible human specimen. Terrible role model.
You might want to emulate his fortitude, not his behavior. Not if you want to be able to stand up out of a chair when you're 60, at least.
