It's enough for accessories. The pause-set style of repping to failure 20-40s rest repping to failure again and again until you've hit your desired reps for that group really blasts the shit out of more stubborn groups like wrists and calves.

I do single leg calf raises with bodyweight only, i pause for 3 seconds at the top of the rep. I do 10 on each leg.

      What is the 1990s brosplit?

        Anonymous

It's the 5 day splits with weekend off
        Where it's something like
        Chest
        Back
        Legs
        Arms
        Shoulders

The 6 day splits came a little after.

Though some thing you got wrong

          It’s

          Chest
          Back
          Legs with Quad focus
          Shoulders
          Arms
          Legs with Hamstring focus

That's a 6 day split. 6 day splits go back to Arnold
            Chest/Back
            Arms/Shoulders
            Legs/lower back
            X2
            Rest

PPL is basically an Arnold split that moves back into its own day and does arms on both days.

          1990s brosplit = best

5-6 day movement type splits are much superior to bodypart brosplits. e.g.
          >vertical push
          >vertical pull
          >leg push
          >horizontal push
          >horizontal pull
          >leg pull
          >rest
recently I've been vertical/horizontal main lift and accessory for a specific movement in the same workout, i.e.
          >press 6x6 dips 3x8
          >weighted chinups 6x6 dumbbell rows 3x8
          >highbar squat 6x6 leg curls 3x8
          >bench 6x6 side raises 3x8
          >rows 6x6 weighted pullups 3x8
          >romanian deadlift 6x6 leg extensions 3x8

        This

What’s funny is zoomers think brosplit means PPL

Scary how zoomers don’t know what a brosplit is

        It’s becoming lost knowledge

Good for me I guess, makes it easier to mog all the young guys

Zoomers are so stupid, they don't even know this incredibly basic thing everyone knows (never seen anyone call PPL a brosplit)

For me it's the incline treadmill. My lower legs are already naturally kinda thick so I don't see a big reason to care unless I wanted crazy definition.

I do them as an accessory exercise. I live on a hill so that helps to get big calves (being fat helped me too)

Not him, but I also run upper-lower split over the weekend and PPL during the week.
I use the 531 rep scheme for compounds on UL days, and the general 10-15 reps for PPL days

How long does each session take? That seems like a lot of exercises

1.5hrs if I'm strick with my breaks. Up to 3hrs if I do a lot of frickin off in between sets.
FWIW I have a home gym and practically no social life. I enjoy spending time in my gym, and I'm rarely in a hurry.

Bro, I do 3x25 seated calf raise twice a week, and 3x25 standing calf raises once a week. These fricker will not grow.
If you weren't born with big calves, or if you've never been morbidly obese, you're just going to need to come to terms with the fact that you will never have big calves.
You can get them cut. You can make them pop. You can get them disgustingly vascular. But they will never be big.

      >25 reps
Why tf would you do that? You DO take every set to failure, right? You DO take every set BEYOND failure, pumping out as many lengthened partials as possible, right? Try increasing the weight and with a rep range of 10-15.

        Anonymous

Yeah, I go to failure, I go until my calves literally will not lift the weight for full ROM and then do a few more half reps.
I lift on wedges or platforms and get a full stretch at the bottom and pause for half a second or so at the top.
I started working in the 20-25 range because they actually give me doms, unlike working in the 10-15 range.

This is every exercise and yes if youre getting more exercise than your body is used to they will grow.
Thats the basic concept of fitness.
Why specifically calves op? are you frustrated about your own?

negatives only, bodyweight, to failure while resting upper-body exercises
    it works

if you prefer you can pick weighted vests and carry them during your day

    Try a poliquin split
    Chest/Back
    Legs
    Rest
    Arms/Shoulders + 1-2 maintence sets on chest/back
    Rest
    Repeat

I really like this split because it never feels like too much or too little. I can push myself in every session but not feel destroyed by the workload.

    they only grow when
    >you're very fat for long period of time
    >you walk a lot when being very fat for a long period of time

i guess the best way to approach this without actually getting fat as frick is to take 30-50kg backpack and do 10k steps every day straight for 2 years

someone wanna do an experiment and check my theory?

I have calves like this. All I do is walk 5k every day and do 3 sets of 35 rep calf raises on my basement stairs.
