Ego lifting on compounds is snap city garanteed

Ego lifting on isolation however is based and redpilled.

Just don’t do it for those moronic preacher curls

the internet makes deadlifting 5 pl8 seem normal for a fit healthy male, but in reality I have rarely seen anyone deadlift more than 3 pl8.

In a way yeah, if your ego is making you push yourself and progressively overload, as opposed to doing the exact same 3 sets of 10 with the same weight every time, then ego lifting is good

The internet is full of liars and fake weights. It's always the scrawny twink on Instagram claiming he's deadlifting as much as actual strongmen who are double or triple his weight lol

I literally saw a kid the other day load 3.5 plates on the bench, take a picture of it, then immediately take them all off lmao. and this was after he had just been struggling to get a few reps of 1.5 plate. No doubt he posted that on social media and said he got 15 reps.

          seriously? LOL

I live in bumfrick, never been to a gym in a big city or anything.

no one films here, people just come in, work out, chitchat out front and smoke cigs after, and then leave.

I went to my university gym for a couple years after school before covid closed the gyms and compelled me to buy a home gym.

In 2019 the free weight area had a bunch of Indians loading up deadlifts and then taking pictures of it and standing around, walking around. They never lifted it once. They would even go through the motions of looking like they were preparing to lift it and everything but they never lifted it or broke a sweat.

Absolutely surreal. I heard they have some aspect of their religion or culture where some of them are not supposed to work, so they have no coordination or strength. But when they come to the west, fitness is a higher status activity so they go through the motions of going to the gym but they don't do anything that involves physical effort.

With enough test, a lot of people will gain weight just by touching a barbell.
Yiu should be able to complete most of your reps in a controlled way. If you "cheat" on the last few reps, that's fine. Using too much weight will just make you more prone to injury and activating muscles you don't want to.

Cheat reps with controlled eccentrics especially with row variations will take you to Gainsville faster than any pencil neck strict form nerd söyence nonsense ever could. Just warm up properly every time and don't waste your time doing partials and ego lifting will take you places. Being extremely autistic about proper form is ego lifting too, it's just the gayest kind there is.
