Does microwaving food make it lose nutritional value?
Like let's say I meal prep some egg and cheese sandwiches. I know they'll taste shittier, but are they just as healthy?

bots and people that act like bots
lmfao
Supposedly it's fine but I've always been skeptical of microwaves. It's unnatural.
>Supposedly it's fine
i dont trust it, i only microwave junk food on sundays tho
it's non-ionizing radiation you have more reason to be scared of radon, radiation exposure from stuff like brick, or living too close to power lines.
i spent my early years having a friends dad ranting about microwaves so my thought process will never change
Cosmic background radiation contains microwaves.
Read a book you fricking Black person
>There's some faint background radioactivity on earth so just eat radium bro
Are the internet or jet airliners natural? Cancer is natural.
>Cancer is natural
>Now shut up and get in the pod
To spell it out, being natural doesn’t dictate whether a thing is good for you.
>Does microwaving food make it lose nutritional value?
not per se
heat destroys some nutrients
microwave will pretty effectively heat all water in your food making it boil really fast
some foods HAVE to be cooked though to make their nutrients available
if you want to cook something it is best to heat it as short as possible
Easy rule of thumb for most veggies
raw > steam > pressure cooker > boiling / microwave > stir frying
What? No. You cook food to rid it of toxic elements. Only plants have to be thoroughly cooked because they're incredibly toxic.
There's no logic behind "some nutrients get destroyed while others somehow grow!"
Fricking moron.
food from the microwave tastes bad
>Does microwaving food make it lose nutritional value?
heating food does this in general.
No. If anything it maintains higher nutritional value than normal cooking. I don't use it because microwaved food tastes like shit
No.
Stop being moronic
Technically yes but negligible for regular microwaving. I worked for a company that was researching microwaved food, particularly in the context of cooking things with it. The microwave cooked food tastes like nothing compared to normally cooked food, implying that the microwave cooking process destroyed a lot of the good things in food,
At least if you microwave bacon it’ll taste exactly the same. In most cases it’s the leftovers in the fridge which are reheated that taste bad.
Is there any point to a microwave except to just be lazier? The extra 5 minutes to cook with a flame literally makes the food taste better so I don't know why anyone would bother.
You don't lose nutritional value by microwaving foods but the absolute sloppiest of goyslops are also foods that you cook in the microwave.
