Does minoxidil make your face age quicker?

I’ve been on finasteride for 8 months, decided I want to try min too. I have a really straight hairline, just missing some hair behind it & some extra density would be good. Does this stuff really ‘nuke your collagen’ etc? I’d be using the non alcohol liquid. Moreover, I’ve heard you get hair on your knuckles etc which is not something id want - especially because they turn terminal. Also, would I actually have to leave it on for 4 hours or could I use it for 60 mins then wash it off etc.

If you didn't worry about the side effects of finasteride, why the frick are you worrying about the basically non-existent side effects of minox? Does you dick even work?

I have a lower libido, that’s it - I don’t mind it since I know I’ll get it back once I come off the drug. I only need my hair until I find a long term partner that I’ll settle down with.

        >i have lower libido

took me a fricking month to get it back and its still not back to where i like it.

Unironically why should I care about libido if I'm not getting laid anyway? Wouldn't it be better to be less of a coomer?

Unless you are applying directly to your face, you won't age faster

I’m using the liquid version - no alcohol. Any tips for applying it? I think maybe tilting my head back etc. & what’s the minimum amount of time I can keep it on for? I was thinking 60 mins

How long should you leave the liquid on for? Hate taking showers in the morning so overnight isn’t ideal

    Probably not.
People like to apply it topically to their face for beard growth and that's where this theory comes from.
Topical minox is has a lot of alcohol in it that dries the shit out of the face. It's more likely that peoples face are just super dried out and makes them look like they've lost collagen and not actually lost any.

It's like people who say tretinoin makes you loss face fat. It doesn't, but it can dry the frick out of the face if your not careful.

    >I’ve heard you get hair on your knuckles etc which is not something id want
You got something against my hairy hands boy?

Tilt your head back when applying to keep it off your face. It only encourages growth where there are hair follicles. It won't give you werewolf hands. I wish it worked that well. If you're that worried, get some gloves for applying it. The nonalcoholic version takes a while to absorb anyway, so you can just wash your hands after applying.

Is the 4 hour window a meme?

No it's not. You have to let it absorb for 4 hours. Just put it on after your shower, wait 2 hours, then put something for your face on top of it but don't wash your face.

        >hol up

I see you care about it for your actual hair. Same thing applies. You won't even notice it once it dries, especially if it's the foam.

I apply after showering and leave it on until my next shower. You guys really shower twice a day to wash it out after 4 hours?

I don’t mind leaving it on my hair but when I go to workout & I sweat, I don’t want minoxidil dripping down & causing hair growth in my face etc

Would you guys just recommend applying before bed then shower in the morning then?

Yeah there is strong anecdotal evidence for this.

You need to take Oral minoxidil 2.5-5mg

Update - I don’t think I want to start minoxidil - at least not now. Dr Hassan & Wong (one of the leading hair transplant doctors in the world) have said they don’t recommend minoxidil due to skin aging effects

Depends on what you’re using it for. I combine it with tretinoin for beard growth. I’m only going to use it until my new hairs transition to permanent hairs. This will be a year at least. I’m four months in now and no signs of aging. I use lotion like normal and I just came off Accutane. I also microneedle once a week.

I’m currently on Accutane. Thing is, I already have a really nice beard/eyebrows. Because I’m using minoxidil for hair on head gains, I’m scared of it eventually going systemic (it will after 1-2/3 years of use) & I cba for that stuff. So I think I’ll just maintain on fin & get a transplant next year or this year (I’m 22 atm)
