    Always used to wake up with a dry mouth. Did taping for a month and that made it permanent that I sleep with a closed mouth. Sleep quality is definitely better but no miracle

    Yes- at least if you tend towards mouth breathing while asleep
    My sleep quality (tracked with whoop and with Garmin) both show substantial increases in deep sleep. I feel like I get up to pee less now as well

    Been doing that for over a year now. Started off quite crude; I used white painter's tape cause didnt know any better. Nowaday I use paper tape for wound dressing, which stick better to your skin and does not leave any residue, and meant for skin. You can get dressing tape from CVS, Walgreen, etc.

    My experience so far are no more dry mouth AND dry nose in the morning. The nose thing is important because it also lead to less irritation, which also lead to less nose picking. Initially, your head will be confused by the taping thinking you're drowning or some shit. It will get to a point where you will rip off the tape while tossing and turning. However keep at it and your head and your breathing will adapt to nose breathing.

    Dream-wise, I do notice more dreams, more vivid as well, which suggest deeper sleep phases. Taping also reduce drooling and help keep lips skin turnover. The tape helps your lips shed better, less incomplete flaking leading to wounds and shit. To stop drooling, make sure to tape the entire length of your mouth plus extra.

      Nice, I think I will try taping my mouth for sleeping. I never had problem with mouthbreathing and only use my nose when awake but I keep waking up in the morning with dry mouth and it feels just horrible. Thanks anon

      If what you're saying is true, and I have all of those things, wouldn't that mean I sleep bad? I'd feel lethargic during the day and whatnot.

        I would say your sleep is not ideal, you could sleep better. My opinion is our energy and mental capacity are from good consistent rest and rise cycle. Im not educated enough to swear that taping helps your energy, but I will say it helps w/ sleep quality, so by weak association taping indirectly helps w/ energy and mental capacity.

        Personally, I think I get more energy and maintain it more from a consistent lifting schedule. Because both are happening at the same time, things overlap and muddle the science, so it is hard to say if taping contributes more or it is just all placebo.

        That said, what I can swear on are aforementioned and other physical benefits. If you suffer from Bruxism (teeth grinding), taping will help secure your jaw, which will eventually help w/ consequences of it. I have bad Bruxism (chalkiness from worn down teeth in the morning, ache jaw) and taping has alleviate the ache a lot. Also sudden waking up at night, which is a consequence of breathing quality. Promoting nasal breathing will improve your breathing overall, which will improve the rest of the ENT chains.

        Lastly, anotehr big benefit is oral health. Dry mouth is not a good thing for your oral health, especially your teeth. Saliva is important in remineralization of your teeth. When you drool, that shit just go away. Also bad breath is directly correlated to dry mouth too.

          I must clarify, if you have Bruxism, you MUST wear a mouth guard to protect your teeth - dont frick around w/ your teeth. Yes, you will wear it while taping your mouth. Bruxism causes a host of ENT shit from fricked up teeth, dry mouth, to sleep apnea, lethargy, etc.

          Like I said, everything overlaps, so it is very challenging to isolate any one particular host or solution.

      . Go to CVS or whatever drugstore and get paper tape for wound dressing. Also called medical tapes, whatever same shit. Dont need J&J brand, just any paper medical tape is good, even off brand. It is meant for skin contact and theoretically medical grade.

      It is not that expensive either, get a pack of two for like 5-8$. I tape every day and a roll will last easily 3+ month.

    I've been a notrious mouth breather during sleep for all my life (100% nose breathe during the day). I was sceptic at first, I read "Breath" by James Nestor and wanted to give it a go, was deathly scared about dying to it. So I bought something called Myotape, that goes around the mouth.

    Has it been better? Sure. I actually dislike sleeping without them now. Is it somehow magically life transforming? No, not really but it feels like an improvement. I want to try and move on from the "safe" tape now and into actual tape because I think I still do a little bit of mouth breating through them at night.

      Just get regular tape and tape your entire mouth, normally. That tape in your pic is dumb; if the tape allows you breath through the mouth however small, then you are not taping your mouth regardless.

      The ultimate goal of taping is re-teach your mind to sleep w/ mouth shut to maintain nasal breathing, instead mouth breathing. After a year plus, I can sleep w/out taping and I know I will maintain nasal breathing. I still tape because I also know if I stop for a long time, then my mind will revert back to mouth breathing eventually. It just takes a long time to fix a subconscious habit.

        No it does help because it puts pressure on the areas around your mouth so you want to shut it naturally. It's the best option if you're paranoid of suffocating with normal tape

    Don'y fall for any of the overpriced products, just grab picrel and put a strip on your mouth at night.

    Reduces snoring, get better sleep, no more dry mouth. The first week your brain will dislike it and you might wake up and remove it, just try again the next night and quickly it won't be an issue.
