he literally tells people to eat less to lose weight

In some instances, CICO does not work. I for example am skinny fat. My body carbonized much more muscle because of a large calorie deficit but kept the body fat percentage high. There are also other examples of people losing more weight at eating higher colories because the body burns more stored energy.

Therefore, body recomposition is an ordeal.

      >In some instances, CICO does not work.
If you're losing weight, it's working. There's nothing to say that calories out can't be muscle. That's on you to prevent with proper training.

The body is not a close system and calories can be used on various things, not just fat loss and fat gain. By CICO logic, bulking would be impossible.

CICO is about weight gain/loss. Fat just happens to the weight people are focused on but it's not the only thing.

kek how did you pass high school? YOU ARE NOT AN UNLIMITED ENERGY SOURCE.

Let me explain this for you
          >Calories in
this is how much you put in your fat face
          >Calories out
this is how much your body will burn and whatever rate it burns. Your rate may be different, but you still have a rate

          This shit isn't complicated

        >>i disobay the laws of thermodynamics
        >no you don't
CICO (energy in energy out) implies a closed thermodynamic system (a system that gains and loses energy only)
The human body is an open thermodynamic system (gains and loses both energy and mass with the outside environment, and can alter it's metabolism and absorption of nutrients).
For example when you eat you are adding mass to your body and some of the food doesn't get digested and absorbed so it leaves the body in the form of mass and no energy is extracted from this lost mass.
This causes CICO to not work as expected according to online calculators because the human body doesn't follow the law of thermodynamics for closed systems (CICO system).

that just means your hormones/genes are shit or you dont train good enough
still doesnt mean cico isnt real
even people with metabolism issues still are under the rules of cico

if you stopped eating at all you would eventually lose all fat you have even if its the most stubborn mass in your body

You are skinnyfat because you don’t work out and eat protein to maintain muscle. You are skinnyfat because you eat like shit and don’t CO to burn that extra CI

CICO is working, even if you're skinnyfat. You could just be predisposed to have a skinnyfat type of body.

If you're skinnyfat at 140-160, you probably need to be 120 to be ripped.

sure, cico works BUT consider the following:
      >you generate your daily energy expenditure online
      >this generator was made for the average human, not considering hormone imbalances caused by stuff like your thyroid
      >you think u can eat 1800 kcal a day and lose weight but in reality you need more like 1400 (lets say this is in a completely sedentary state) due to the way your body uses this energy
this means that cico can never be absolute. it will never be the same for everyone. of course everyone will lose weight when they are taking in less than they burn, but having to eat 800-1000kcal under maintenance to lose the same amount of weight as someone eating 300kcal under leads to burn out. the hormonal imbalances must be fixed for it to apply evenly. yes everyone can lose weight like this, but it DOESNT mean you can DO IT. I have no problems like this, but i know plently of people (older women) who do. and dont tell me they're lying, i see what my mother eats every single day, and if i ate as much as she did while expending the same amount of energy, i would be dead.

this is what this anon was pointing out, and if youre one of the morons that spammed "HURR DURR CICO LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS DURRR" you need to frick off and die, if YOU were put into the body of someone with these issues, YOU would realize its not as easy as you think it is. its called perspective, maybe when u moronic zoomers get out of high school u might gain some instead of staying dunning kruger forever.

CICO is true but mainstream morons don't account for the CO part correctly.
If you think 500 calories of low fat milk and 500 calories of fried chicken will have the exact same result on your bodyweight and body composition, you are a fricking idiot.
People who have done lots of restrictive diets in the past have depleted themselves of nutrients, which slows down the metabolism. They've also burned through lots of PUFA, which slows it down even further. To the point that their maintenance calories are pretty damn low.
The goal there for anyone with half a brain, is not to restrict calories, but to provide nutrients to restore metabolism and health.

For real, ketosis can result in extra weight loss. The ketone bodies that are formed as an alternate energy source can be lost through urination and respiration (ketone breath). This loss is probably very minor but it's still there.

    > eat 1g protein (4 calories)
    > protein gets broken down into amino acids
    > amino acids go into cells to build muscle tissue
    > since you used them for structure, you can't also break it down for energy
    > mfw a calorie in did not equal a calorie out
Apply the same logic to fats going toward hormone production or carbs going toward muscle glycogen.
    >but the calories are still there, they just went toward growth and development rather than fat!
Maybe organisms in different biological states will use the same number of calories to very different ends, some using an excess to put on muscle and clear the body of metabolic wastes while others in a stress state just accumulate fat while their lean tissue wastes away.

      Anonymous

that just means that proteins arent really 4kcal for the body
the underlying concept of cico still applies

        >some people will burn protein/fat/carbs for energy
        >others will use it to build structure in the body
        >the amount of energy you get out of food is indeterminate and based on the state your body was in when you ate it (anabolic or catabolic)
        >therefore two people with the same body composition eating the same number of calories and performing the same amount of exercise might get different results if one is in a stressed, catabolic state
        >but none of this matters CICO bro

He also explicitly said in some interview that people who gain weight eating what they suppose to be the "ray peat" diet should eat less.
