They do nothing for you unless you get creative with them(typewriter, etc.), and even then and this is the reason they are mid tier at best is that :
" DOING A LARGE AMOUNT OF PUSHUPS JUST MAKES YOU GOOD AT DOING PUSHUPS"
You'll get some definition but nothing else.
I was dirt poor when I started working out, had 2 pairs of 20 pound dumbells and my imagination
Push-up pyramids, warmups, every variation in the book from 1 arm to typewriter to fricking sphinx, at peak I could do 100 straight for a warmup.
They do nothing but make you good at them.
Hard to say because it depends a lot on how good you are at them.
If you're a noob just do as many as you can for 3-4 sets and rest one or two days
If you're advanced you should do them everyday or you won't see any results, unless you do something like 500 pushups which is a waste of time
just do sets of 10-20 throughout the day
And do variations. I rest at the bottom for a deep breath and it gives me a more satisfying pump than the bench press. I like to do 10 super slow on the way down, pause, explode back up, and then I try doing as many diamond push ups as possible
Go elevated so that you can extend your ROM, really contract your back so you can go deep into the bottom of the rep. Focus on bringing your elbows together and that will help you use your chest more for the movement. Also try elevated + wide
what are you trying to achieve with 500 pushups a day? i was a weighted calisthenics guy for years and now i bodybuild, i can easily do 40+ dips and 80+ pushups and i never train them, my chest, triceps and shoulders are huge, ur not in prison just get a gym membership
Nah not really. I do around 150 a day or around 50 but I also do planches
I saw good gains from it as long as you do hard ones
Diamonds extended forward for example
Switch the variations and volume often or you'll frick your joints up. If you're doing it every day don't do the explosive variations. When you plateau you'll need to lessen the frequency and start using more advanced programming
Why the frick would you do that? Are you poor, a child, living in a Slav tower block or just a straight moron?
What's wrong with push-ups?

Someone who's never consistently done a bodyweight routine, talking about pushups. Of course

why is that a waste of time u jerk
Because it takes a long ass time to do, when you could've just benched 3x8 instead

Good push for the outer chest?

shit genetics or shit diet, probably both.
Doing push ups every day is not that bad unless you're a fat, dysgenic frick
Pushup will kill all your gains
Mike Tyson did something like 500-100 everyday in his prime. Maybe more, I forget the number
