I tried to eat ants when I was a kid but I don't remember them having a taste because I drank water with them

ants have a weird pheromone taste, apparently its because of :pheromones and :formic acid. definitely not my favorite.

I used to eat beetles as a kid and I have eaten spiced crickets on two occasions, I am allergic to crickets.

I've tried dried crickets and they taste like dirt. Not figuratively, they literally taste the same.

Outside of dares as a kid, no.

I would absolutely ate them if they were at all available anywhere and not completely overpriced. There's loads of cultures all over the world that eat at least one sort of bug or bug egg that's native to their area.

i grow my own crickets, they taste fine, nothing bad really.
it's virtually free protein for me since they eat catfood and i have tons of catfood anyway

Yeah I've had crickets in mexico before, they taste terrible
all the protein is pretty much cooked out and you just have this gross chitin left over, which isn't even protein by the way, it's a complex carb structure which is completely indigestible

I don't know where the sentiment that we should eat more like 3rd worlders came from, but it's extremely stupid
Rice and onions and now bugs?
    This is getting ridiculous

i bought a bag of roasted whole crickets. they tasted ok but were kind of plain. they remind me of peanuts, where they have an ok flavor but i don't ever crave them. i wanted to experiment with them in the kitchen but my gf was not into the idea. i would try some flavored ones, like salt+lemon crickets or something. maybe i will try mealworms too.

Beefs 25-50 dollars a kilo now where I am. Probably be double that in a few years. The age of the bug is nearing

agriculture departments around the world are actively working to subsidize the bug-eating due to the impact factory farming has on land, water and energy. I personally don't give a shit. As long as it's made as a cheap means of getting protein.

I've eaten mealworms before, I bred them for my lizards. Tastes of nothing. And if you swallow them whole, you can feel them trying to crawl back up.

    I'll stick to 70% veggie, 30% meat.

Yep, I ate pic related the other day. I figured it's time to man up. Feelsgoodman.
It's actually a cut of protein in there like any meat though. Don't fall for this insect shit. They tell you how much protein by weight it is and it sounds great because they fail to mention that it's still only like 10% protein and 90% fiber. That's not quality good.

Yeah, it's pretty good. I've only had seasoned freeze-dried crickets and mealworms, and they were good snacks. if they were cheaper, I'd eat them over chips but the price is too high for them despite them being cheap to produce because they're still a niche product

I ate bugs, they are not the same as lobsters or shrimp.
      DIfferent taste and mouth feel.

Dude, I just mentioned this. Seafood is a juicy cut of meat taken out of a giant bug. You can't get that from insects. You'll have to eat a thousand of them and digest all kinds of fiber and other shit just to get what you can pull out of one good prawn.
