How the frick is this enough to feed 3 people 3 "generous meals" a day for 6-7 days? I could see that feeding 1 person for a week.

By eating proper (read: non-American) sized portions.

He's right though. Only the avocados are calorie dense.
I could go through that alone in a week, and wouldn't be able to hit my calorie goals with 30 minutes of cardio every day, and lifting three-four times a week.

No, I'm a Britgay and I agree with the previous guy. Pretty sure my 7-year old eats more than that.

You probably could feed 3 adults for £18 a week but it'd be based around rice and pasta, which I note is completely lacking here.

they taste better than the branded shit, and apart from the sneed oil (rapeseed) they have no extra unhealthy shit. the ingredients list is literally just: Maize Flour, Rapeseed Oil, Salt.

Yeah Asda is very cheap. If you go for slightly shittier alternatives you can add a ton of protein from the asda range. 1kg of frozen beef mince + onion is £4. 1kg of breaded chicken burgers is £3.
Yeah its not fresh, and its processed, but the macros are gonna be the same and you can still make some great meals with it.

their non brand peanut butter is also cheap and no random oils and shit added, made from peanuts only

          My typical day is usually:
Four eggs, scrambled or soft boiled with two slices of rye for breakfast.
Big cabbage salad with a variety of vegetables and a bit of fruit along with some meat (usually a steak/patty, porkchop or fish) and a bowl of guacamole made from one avocado for dinner. On the days I lift I also drink two scoops of whey.

I only buy rice, pasta, meat, eggs and dairy, and grow my own vegetables, herbs and some berries inside and on my balcony. I buy the meat in bulk whenever it's on offer or discounted. I don't just do this for bodybuilding but also because it's the cheapest way I can eat.

  18. 2 years ago

Every time people complain about healthy food being expensive, they're always talking about some branded vegan/organic/gluten-free/whatever-the-frick shit instead of just buying basic whole food staples. The only somewhat "expensive" thing is going to be meat. And even then, chicken and pork are usually cheap. And having more expensive stuff every once in a while like lamb or salmon won't break the bank. All the other shit like potatoes, lentils, rice, beans, is cheap as shit.

Um, MODERN science has absolutely debunked calories, meathead? Your metabolism is almost completely genetic?

  22. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

It is literally impossible. If you feed your family rice and bread all day sure, but you are literally eating worse than a medieval peasant at that point.

Fresh produce is the healthiest way to eat and it costs a lot. All science shows that if you eat more fruit and vegetables you do far better in health, the effect is huge. It's so huge in fact that a good government would be practically outlawing "filler" foods like bread, rice and potatoes, the reason they do not is because it would tank the economy. This is particularly the case for if people ate a lot of grapes, bananas, oranges, that don't grow in most western countries. This is why starchy foods are the base of the "food pyramid". They don't keep it a big secret, but they do completely undermine the nutritional value of it. Frozen or dried fruit and veg can be good as well.

Bananas are multiple pounds for a dollar, apples almost as cheap, broccoli and carrots are ridiculously affordable, chickpeas and black beans are basically free, plenty of room in the budget for meat, dairy and if you really wanna dave money eggs are insanely cheap and insanely nutritious.
