I have one and it's pretty nice. You can follow video recorded routes as if you were running along with others in beautiful places (more appealing to housewives I guess). You can also set your own routes with a map and resistance adjusts to elevation and so on. There is a steep hill nearby that you can't really navigate on foot but I can set it as my route on the elliptical and run up and back down.

if you're obese, it's a good start. If not, you would probably be better off doing any other form of cardio or leg exercise.

Why would I choose "any other" over this for cardio? Running outside or on the treadmill is worse for the joints. Biking is probably not that bad but you have to spend more time on the bike compared to the elliptical. Stairmaster is probably the best but also not as versatile.

Rowing is a great choice for full body cardio, and it can hit a lot harder than an elliptical at high intensity. Both ellipticals and rowing machines are nice for light cardio and zoning out to music if you're at a moderate pace.

Easily the best LISS cardio ever, hitting full body whilst being harmless on your joints makes it better than over 99% of other options
Only can be considered better overall for allowing HIIT too, but you can always do LISS on elliptical and HIIT on rower to have some variation, if you have access to both
It's crazy how many people are still stuck to running even though it's inefficient and harmful if you're not competing, they need to stop being stuck to the past
