Primitive man ate very few cereal grains. What they did eat was ether a porridge or an alcoholic slurry in the late summer and fall gathered by women. This probably was beneficial, as they needed the shelf stable carbs to make it through the winter. Agriculture was a fickle thing in the stone age and if you put too much effort into sowing crops and being stationary, a more mobile tribe could come and raid your crops and steal your shit. So early man probably did not evolve the gut to properly utilize grains year round
The basis for paleo diets operates on this assumption. And I can see the logic there.
But Europeans have been eating grains year round for more that 6000 years. Asians and Hindus even longer. Idk when the American Indians figured out corn, but it has been a while.
Point is, if grains and vegetables make people less healthy, but they ate it anyway; it would become an evolutionary pressure. And those who were better at digesting this abundant source of energy would be naturally selected over those who couldn't.
This is how Europeans became lactose tolerant. We brute forced our whey through the stomach cramps and bad gas and anyone who couldn't hack it was less successful reproductively.
We have been eating grain longer than milk. So it's kinda stupid to think we aren't adapted to it.
The reason grains are bad today is because we simply don't work hard enough to justify that many carbs in our diet.

      >it's kinda stupid to think we aren't adapted to it
I wouldn't assume that everyone has adapted to eating grains to the point of not having negative effects from eating it, but I'm not a food scientist, and I imagine your last point is still correct

        >I wouldn't assume that everyone has adapted to eating grains to the point of not having negative effects from eating it
Not everyone. It's possible that recessive hunter gatherer genes lingered on throughout time and are starting to express themselves more now that there are alternatives to grains.
Someone with a bad gluten sensitivity in medieval Europe would have probably shit themselves to death in childhood unless they were royalty and could afford a grain free diet.
I wouldn't be surprised if Eskimos got sick from too much grain. They were eating nothing but blubber and meat until very recently.
Australian aborigines also never figured out full-time agriculture. They've only had contact with it since the late 18th century. Literally less than 12 generations

it's also a combination of iron fortification which we already got too much of and the fact that most of the wheat in America is genetically modified by Monsanto so that it can withstand being sprayed a shit ton of Monsanto's roundup

Wheat has never been genetically modified commercially. They only just barely started messing around with it in tests.
All the wheat in America and everywhere else is just the result of selective breeding. the same thing we've been doing to it for thousands of years
            hecked.
The wheat if our ancestors is not the wheat of today.
In what sense? It's gotten a shorter stalk to make it easier for mechanical harvesting. But that's no unique to America.
The cultivars favored in America have a much higher gluten content. But gluten is protein. It has always been seen as desirable. With the exception of those who are allergic to it. It's being extracted and sold as a health food because it is low in carbs and high in protein
American bread is less healthy because it is almost always white bread with a ton of sugar. They have this stuff in Europe too (try milch brot with Nutella next time you're in Germany)
Grandma always said, the whiter the bread, the sooner you're dead.

99% of plant material is modified these days
a large chunk naturally due to the pollutants in the air and the garbage in the ground (even good land gets fricked in the ass the longer you farm on it using pesticides and Black person grade fertilizer)
the larger chunk is modified to get more yield and immune crops from the poor quality they grow it in

the land will only provide so many nutrients, and as a result most food is lacking in vitamins and shit, you need to eat upwards of 5-10x to get the same amount of nutrients you would a long time ago

this is why grain is bad now, the nutritional value it had has become too eroded and its just carbs

How can people post shit like this seriously
      >dude the people who died by age 30? Yeah they were totally healthy bro they had it all figured out

The average lifespan was 30 because of all the children that didn't see one and the women who died in childbirth. If you made it to adulthood you could see 60.
An Numidian king who fought with Rome was 80 and still riding his horse.
Between you and modified wheat guy we got some real idiocy, which I don't mind, but the asserting it so confidently I do

its scientific fact that adequate protein is important to grow to the correct height. this is why the dinaric peoples are still growing: for so long they were inadequately supplied. Right now about 50% of the population gets enough, and they’re already as tall as the Dutch. They say in 20 years a Bosnian will be taller than 6’2 on average

My 2 year old eats more veggies and fruits than any other kid in school. Most 2 year olds right now only eat potato chips, Cookies and candy. I haven’t introduced any kind of snacks to my kid yet but a lot of parents try to push for it.
