Fasting is a scam

I bulked from skeleton to 155lb. My lifts were in the intermediate range.

Then I fasted down to 139lb and lost all my strength. I'm literally OHPing the bar, and now I'm skinnyfat.

The fast talking shills have played me for an absolute fool.

You have to feed muscle or it will frick off. The human body doesn't like to maintain large amounts of muscle either. It's forced onto you by yourself.

      >the human body doesn't like to maintain large amounts of muscle
semi true, it depends on a lot, heavier people will maintain more muscle regardless of how skinny they used to be.

No shit; if you care about muscle mass you shouldn't fast for more than 16hrs. Even 16hr fasts is at the high end.

            >yes, that's the point of the thread. Fasting is bullshit. I don't know how to preserve muscle while cutting but fasting isn't it.

Now I have to somehow lose the rest of the fat and start all over again.

It seems like you could start bulking again. Since you’re concerned about your current strength, maybe now is a good time to try to regain your strength and reach new highs.

If you bulk correctly, you should be able to reach new PRs every time you do a bulk, and you should be able to bulk for over a year without getting fat.

Once to ~60 hours, other than that less than 48. Even that was awful: by hour 40 I could barely get up if I'd been sitting, and I would feel like dry heaving in the mornings. It really felt like dying.

I thought it was worth it but I wish I was fat and strong again.

Those fasts are stupid. It takes 2 days to burn your liver glycogen stores and you will never burn fast efficiently if you do it that way

          Anonymous

That doesn't make any sense. Do you think the body can't utilize your fat cells efficiently unless you still have liver glycogen stored up?

I saw everyone in my life getting fat and wanted to do something extreme. I live in the suburbs and routinely go entire days without seeing a person with a normal BMI. I feel like I'm living in invasion of the body snatchers-- everyone is becoming fat. When I see old friends I pray they haven't taken the fat pill, but one by one they're succumbing.

So fasting is religious; I was trying to ward off the curse, but instead it made me weak and skinnyfat. Now that all my strength is gone I'm going to fast back down to skeleton and start all over again.

        Whoa sounds fricking based.
        Fasting IS an anti-globohomosexual religion.

I bulked last winter so i could finally squat 3pl8. Now I've fasted down the bloat and all my lifts are like 20% weaker. Lmao from 2x110kg bench to just 2x90kg now. I used to bench 2 pl8 for like 7 reps, now i can't do even one. Aaaaaahhh.

But. Fasting isn't a scam. Anyone who cuts will lose some strength.
I've been fasting/cutting for 3 months. I've heard it being said that it takes half the time you've been cutting to get all your strength back. So in 1.5 months I'm expecting my lifts to be close to my pre -fast level but without all the bloat.

I've lost a lot of strength. Maybe more than you. But I'm confident in muscle memory and I'll be lean and stronk in no time.

You're 5kg heavier on right than left but fatter too, noticeably. You probably gained 1kg of muscle. Why the frick would you do that to yourself?

My son was born in April. I really wanted to squat 3pl8 before he was born, so he's born to a chaddy daddy and not a dyel dad.

            Nice!

Post body-- at 155lb I was unambiguously fat. There must be a way to get lean and retain some muscle, but fasting isn't it.

Not him but I'm 5'5" and so far I've cut down from 151 to 137 over the course of 2 months. My lifts have gone down around 5 lbs each. I'm still skinnyfat so I'm planning on spending another 2 months cutting. Just cut slowly, lift + eat a high protein diet while doing it. I probably would have gained muscle if I was eating eating 130 g of protein but I usually only hit around 80-100 bc I want consume many calories.

what fasting really does is make you eat over a shorter period of time with the idea being that you eat less in that time. It is just cico by intention. It is ruined by morons who think "im healthy because i fast" then go binge eat a massive amount.

I just eat less calories on non training days if I want to lose weight. Too little food and my workouts are shit, bad sleep, no energy. So I keep it higher then that but cutout excessive snacking.
