Fasting is overrated

>Be me
>See some famous people talking about fasting
>See in comments how some people had special/spiritual/fulfilling moments
>See how many people love to embrace stoicism
>Try fasting for a week
>Fail at 5th day
tbqh, I didn't feel anything
No talking to God
No stocisim
Nothing, just a damn boring 5 days. I stopped more out of boredom than out of hunger. It's boring AF to be hungry and do nothing all day. I like to swim and go to sauna, not this shit.

I think fasting for longer than 2 days is moronic and overrated. But well, I tried. Now I know officially is moronic AF

Do you think the same?

Sometimes lifestyles change along the way. If you're a real minimalist then a fasting focused lifestyle is really easy to do because you have better things to do than focus too much on enjoying food. I was a vegetarian for a long time until I found out I liked to cook chinese food. Things fall apart.

Frick if I know what's with people claiming immense revelations. Folks really determined to try and make everything they do super special I guess?

I did rolling 48's and 72's for a few months, and it wasn't particularly difficult after the first week. Mostly benefited from it resetting my perception of portions, simply was eating way to much in any giving sitting, but that was hard to do after a long fast. The weight loss was nice to, but it wasn't some magical level of shit, just peak CICO math.

What does "rolling" even mean. Just say you fasted for 2 days. You sound stupid saying "rolling 48"

        >What does "rolling" even mean.
Everytime someone makes a post, the post has a unique number, like 385749293. When you "roll" for something, it's like rolling a dice and saying "if I got a 6 I'll ace my math exam", except instead of a dice you use the last numbers of your post ID. Since you have more than 1 number, you can decide to look only at the last one, the two last ones, and so on.

Rolling means you roll them, moron. You do the fast, break it, and then immediately begin the fast again. Rinse and repeat. homosexual.

Spirituality is meaningless schizo talk. God doesn't exist. Most of those famous people didn't really fast (they fasted under 48 hours, most under 24 hours).

    > It's boring AF to be hungry and do nothing all day.
Don't you have a job and then chores to do at home? Maybe friends or after work activities?

When I've tried fasting, at the 3 to 4th day I start feeling high/euphoric, and everything seems so calm and I feel in the present moment like when you meditate except without have to force it.

      Anonymous

And yeah, fasting feels really boring for the most part. You don't realize how much much making or getting and eating food breaks up the day and makes it less boring. Time goes really slow.

I know man, it gives the day a little bit of identity it otherwise wouldn't have, even if you exclude the obvious cases like memorable restaurant meals:
        >Today I made a potato casserole
        >tonight I just YOLOd together some rando ingredients in a giant stir-fry
        >ah shit, yesterday I pigged out on ice cream
        >Ah shit, canteloups are in season again! :Literally making half my week unironically.
But I guess according to the World Fasting Forum shills, we will "eat nothing and be happy" (not that I stop fasting, Klaus).

Fasting alone won't bring you to God unless you are approaching death. If you don't know how to pray or meditate, it's not going to change much in your spiritual life. Fasting is boring. That's part of the point. Take that time to reflect. Who are you? What do you want? How do you want to serve? What vision do you have for your life. Where did you and all you see before you come from? What is real? Etc. Aside from questions like that, it's a good time to study spiritual texts and to walk in nature. I'm sorry you wasted your fast. It's unfortunate to suffer through it and gain nothing. Maybe you lost a little weight at least.

    >realizes he has absolutely no interests or hobbies out of consuming goislop
Says more about you than the fasting itself. You now have far more time and mental acuity to go do shit you're interested in and you do absolutely frick all. Fasting isn't inherently boring. You lead a boring existence and it only came to light because you can't mindlessly distract and numb yourself with sugary dopamine highs whenever you please

It is going to mess wit your hormones. Read gh15, hormones are everything.

You can have a massive calory deficit and be on medication and lose no weight
And then you can have a smaller deficit and more spread out meals and have fitness goals.
Why? Hormones. Don't fight your body. Don't fast.

You can create problems with your gut bacteria too in prolonged fasts and these aren't always easy to fix

Have a psymovybin mushrooms and that's the better than the delirium you can get with a prolonged fast.

Buddha time had a lot of weird things and he is the middle way midwit genius who figured out the tread on the guitar should not be too lose and not too tight
They had spiritual people killing themselves with starvation in his time.

Then a lot of weird beliefs come from that time and practices.
One thing that always attracted me to asceticism was Nietzsche on his views of asceticism as dominion of your self or whatever.

I now understand Nietzsche never watched Andrew Huberman or read gh15. Hormones are everything. We know better now than to fight against our bodies and nature.
True spirituality is maxxing the good things, the hormones, not going against them. Fasting and le meditation le fasting le extreme routines promoted by charlatans is a fight against your hormones.

Fasting is just wildly disordered eating that sometimes sees success because it can incur the only actual way to lose weigh (calorie deficit) as an accidental byproduct.

It's a mental disorder disguised as a diet to be sold to soccer moms through trashy magazines and instagram posts.

Not a very good looking one though. I burned it a bit.
This one is very small as well. 2 eggs and 3 potatos.
        Also salt
I would add onions, chorizo, and a touch of cheese, but i gotta go easy with the first meal after 5.5 days without eating

After eating this very simple dish, I feel great. Indeed feels like a reset. It's quite crazy the experience. I wish I waited to the week. Maybe my counsciousness would be clearer.
Nevertheless, today I am very happy for just eating a potato omelette.
Fasting makes you appreciate even the simplest foods.
      It was worth it
I totally recomend this. 3 days might be enough though, but the longer you wait, the more you're gonna enjoy the after-fast food.
PS: don't forget to do research, take vitamin supplements, and walk and do some minimal excercise everyday. Even just 10 push ups.

        >the more you're gonna enjoy the after-fast food.
This can not be stated enough. Whatever meal you have after a fast is likely to be the best meal you've ever had, best part is to get to that point again you have to fast again.
