My goal is to lose around 20lbs of body fat in the next 8 months. I’m currently doing weight training 6 times a week and cardio everyday. I’m eating slightly below maintenance, with an emphasis on protein. I was wondering if water fasting on my rest day would be at all beneficial, not necessarily at speeding up fast loss but at ‘resetting’ my system for the week ahead. I am 6’4.
No. Fasting will accelerate your metabolic thermogenic adaptation. Either eat below maintenance or fast. It will do the opposite of resetting you
>I don't want to demoralize ~~*but*~~
Shut your mouth, motherfucker.
Literally what

>I’m currently doing weight training 6 times a week and cardio everyday
I don't want to demoralize but you won't stick to it. Find a routine which is less intense imho
This. I have a mate who constantly plans 13 workouts a week just like this. He misses one day 5 days in then loses all motivation and he's out for 2 weeks minimum. Plan for less anon, just say you'll go for an hour WALK every day, lift 3/4 times a week and run twice minimum. Then if you want to run more, just run more. The walking and deficit alone will help you burn those kgs.
>20lbs of body fat in the next 8 months
Lmao you don't need fasting for that, the minimal caloric deficit of ~500 slices a poind a week
Intermittent fasting seems to work if you actually go hard for a little while. For instance, I've already lost 3-5 lbs already just restricting my eating times between 1pm-9pm each day and cutting out any sort of garbage or highly processed foods.
>1pm-9pm
Yeah, that's not fasting
I'm a fat fuck so I'm just trying to adjust before fasting for longer periods of time. I mean, I'm even seeing results with this weak routine so you can already tell the state of my body
Good for you then man, keep it up. You're gonna make it
Thanks man, I appreciate it
it's 16:8 fasting you dumb ape
Bro it's called skipping breakfast
OMAD is when fasts become legit
literally definition of fasting
god u fucking apes all have smooth brains it's insane
>skipping breakfast is called 16:8 OMAD warrior ketogenic fasting
I fucking hate you millenial gays so much it's unreal. I want to kick you in your rotting crotch until you vomit pus.
>I am 6’4
what is your current weight - dropping 20lb of fat is gonna be different if you're 150lb or 250lb
180
You're 6'4" and looking to go down to 160? You're gonna be a skelly anon, why slim down so much?
I need to get my waistline <30 inches and 160lbs seems like a good baseline. I don’t intend to stay there for long I just need to get my waist sorted.
Not that same guy, but why man? I'm 6'1 and when I was 170 I looked sick and felt like shit. I'm like 230 now so I could lose a few lbs for sure but at your height being like 160 is going to be a bad time.
>I need to get my waistline <30 inches
what's the driving need? 170 would be the absolute minimum to go down to, like
said you'll look and feel like shit going any lower
I’m 160 and 5’10 and I’m pretty slim. That’s not a good goal weight for you
Funny I’m gaining 20 in 3 months. First month complete and I’m already ahead of schedule
I fasted Monday & Wednesdays when my wife was pregnant. Ate whatever the fuck I wanted for the rest of the week and dropped 25 lbs during her pregnancy.
I'm 6'2" and my goal weight is 220 lbs. Will I be able to cut down to 200 lbs by mid July if I start cutting mid march?
Just do 2-3 10 day fasts separated by 1 week of regular eating. Do light exercise on the fasting days, 1 hard training day when you begin your normal eating, and fully rest and recover before doing another 10 days. You won't lose muscle
It can be good or bad. If you overeat the day after the fast, the fast can end up being harmful. If you can avoid that then sure, a zero calorie day would speed up fat loss.
How does fasting once a week not just get offset on the other days when you'll be hungrier?
