        lets say you can gain 5lbs of lean muscle mass per year as a natty.
        what does gaining 40lbs of fat per year have anything to do with that? you still gain that 5lbs of lean muscle mass but now you need to spend a year cutting that fat to reach the same result if you just lean bulked.

        the best you can really do is cut twice or three times a year for less time. Not really much of a gains loss since you can't really be putting on lean mass for that long durations as a natty anyways.

      Bulking and cutting like everyone always did, if you want any actual progress. No, don't post a picture of some obese person that's a strawman. Bulking and cutting is scientifically proven too with people with higher bf% retaining more muscle mass so even if you save only 50% of that mass that's still a net gain. The gaintaining clean bulk shit is all roiders.

        people with higher bf% also eat more protein and have to use their muscles more in order to move around even if they don't train
        there's a study on bodybuilders dieting while wearing a weighted vest and it shows promise, just being heavier makes you maintain muscle easier without changing your diet because muscles respond to diet and exercise not just the amount of calories you happen to eat
        even if you are a fat frick bulking on 6000 calories if you don't move your muscles you will build no muscle.

      plan your bulks and cuts like say I want to put on 15 lbs in a year that's about 175 days on a 300 kcal surplus, realistically speaking probably 10 lbs of that is probably going to be fat so we cut 10 lbs that's -500 for 70 days. Just kind of make plans mark on your calendar what you should weigh when if it's not proceeding as planned raise or lower your calories to try to get it back on trajectory. I'd recommend leaning out first if you're in skinnyfat limbo because it's a lot easier to get an idea of what's going on and how much 15-20 lbs actually looks on you. (it's practically nothing if you're not under 15% to begin with)
