Fight Gyms in London

Right I don't know if this is the place to ask but there will probably be some among you who know.
I'm in the London area and fairly broke, I love fighting and want to make my way into semi professional paid fights but I don't know how to find a decent gym that doesn't charge stupid prices and can actually get me into that scene. (I like Muay Thai the most but MMA/Kickboxing would be just fine too) A grotty basement is fine as long as the people there are hard cunts, any recommendations?

Visited UK and London in 2016 as a student from NorthernEU.
We were housed in some sketchy area. Went out one night and some pakistani looking dudes threatened to beat us up.
Next morning heard about some kids getting knifed to death in an elevator.
To me it seemed like London itself is one big free for all.

If you want to train with quality partners I would say London Shoot Fighters I'm assuming you already know that gym though. What part of London are you in?

literal shithole these days (apart from a few areas which have been gentrified) if you don't know your way around it's easy to wander into a rough part.

        It was rather surreal experience.
Like we have parts of towns you don't want to walk around (druggies) but even if you have to go there it's like 99% sure that nothing will happen.

Looking at London shoot fighters now and they look pretty good, I'll be giving them a try.

I think there was a group stabbing nearby really recently in broad daylight from some guys on bikes trying to snatch phones, this place is fucked.

The thing that caught my eye in the UK was that police was unarmed.
Like why would they do this to themselves?

The police are fairly powerless around here, you don't see a tenth the amount of patrols you should considering the crime rates but the tories have gutted most of our infrastructure so goodbye public funding.

Foot Patrols were virtually abolished decades ago, I believe it was under a Labour government

There are more policemen per capita now than there ever was, the problem is that they're all doing paperwork and cruising around in fancy cars

Peter Hitchens has written a lot of content about this if you're interested in knowing more

As for guns I think it's a cultural thing but they totally should have at least pistols.

The police were unarmed originally because Robert Peel didn't want them to end up as a paramilitary hostile to the public, like there was on the continent at the time

I agree in principle, but realistically the country is so shit now that the police really need shooters

Don't need guns to dance macarena at pride parades and arrest housewives for doing a wrongthink on twitter.

Oh, did you think they investigate actual crime? That'd be racist anon.

yeah mate best bet for what you want to do. I don't know any other good gyms I'm from south so I doubt you would travel to Croydon areas.

Appreciate the recommendations, tbh I would be up for the travel if it's the right place but London shooters is gonna be a shout.

Heres a short list of a few things to look for or keep in mind when selecting a gym
              >price/distance/schedule/availability
the basic shit. If its too expensive or too for or doesnt work with your schedule, then you wont train and will just be wasting money
              >website/coaches/listed fighters
most gyms these days should have a website. On this website they should have shit like their prices, schedules, gym owner and coaches, and some will even list their currently active pro fighters or even ammy fighters.
You should look into the records for the coaches and fighters to see if they are producing results
              >free trial
pretty much any decent gym will offer a free trial. I have even seen some offer the first 2 weeks free. Use this to your advantage to check out the place. Get a subjective feel for the vibe of the gym, the coaches and their coaching style, and most importantly, your gymmates/future sparring partners. I had one gym that was literally a perfect fit for me, but when it came to sparring the other dudes were just assholes about it, so I decided I didnt want brain damage and left. The gym I am at now checked all of my other boxes as well and everyone is cool and very skilled, but they dont try to kill you. Its a little bit more of a drive, but that trade off was worth it. I only knew this because of the free trial

Right okay thanks I'll bear that in mind when I'm vetting them, I don't fancy C.T.E either.

Strelka has an office in newcastle tyne. They can hook you up with their associated gyms

Newcastle on tyne is just way too far

If you want to get into amateur MMA fights, the Fusion series is really good and you should be able to get a fight there is you are good enough.
The fights take place in Epsom, but the fighters are from gyms all over the UK

Well yeah it's an awful shithole run by gangs and you never want to be out anywhere noisy past 12 but you still gotta do what you gotta do

Look for bare knuckle fighting if you want hard cunts. Better start pounding a lot of sand with your fists to not break them during fighting.

Gonna be using a large pot filled with rice instead

Will remember them but I think I'll find the appropriate avenues as I train more and get to know more people

Shootfighters in East and North West London, dedicated MMA gyms with fighters there competing in Bellator although I've heard of 1-2 making it to UFC.
