Redpill me on it. Is this truly the only way to combat hair loss and thinning hair? Are there any side effects, and if so, how bad? Is it worth it? Any reply is appreciated

It didn’t stop my hair loss, my semen got watery for a week and then my dick didn’t work as well (could have been in my head but I didn’t get morning wood). Took a long time feel normal again.

      No and happens
Its not a miracle but it works to a degree,
That degree isnt 100% aka restoring your baby hairline, more like recovering a bit and maintaining for decades if lucky, slowing your hairloss by 90% or more is more usual, you will have less hair in 10 years but you wont be nearly as bald as if you didnt take it.
Oral minoxidil is by far the strongrest hairloss medication ,it should work in almost everybody, expect dramatic regrowth in just a few months.

Yes. It ages the frick out of your skin. The liquid will slowly drip down around your eyes so you get very noticeable age lines there due to it.

          Still worth it.

Just try it. Worst case you come off because the sides are real for ya. Best case you get no sides and run it till ya die/are tired of hair.
You can always titrate the amount down from 1mg to like .02mg a day. haircafe has decent videos on it.

Dut destroys hairlines in a lot of people and because it isn't fda approved no one can figure out why, you'd be safer taking 5mg fin if you want to go hard

It's approved in Japan and Korea though. There's absolutely no evidence it has ever increased the rate of hair loss in anybody aside from some PFS schizos on obscure hairloss forums.

how I regrew 2 inches of my hairline

    >1mg of finasteride a day
    >minoxidil once a day (it recommends twice a day but minoxidil stays in your system for 20+ hours so two times a day is pointless)
    >tretinoin cream on your hair line 20-30 minutes before minoxidil application (tretinoin cream helps minoxidil absorption and will give better results
    >nizoral shampoo once a week
    >derma stamp once a week with a 1.5mm needle all over you scalp(you want to stamp the same place 3 times before moving on to another part of your scalp)

    >other things people do to improve hair: avoid suger, do cardio (improves blood circulation), scalp massages, magnesium hair spray (helps to de-calcify the scalp and improve blood circulation, and red light therapy.

OP he is right, every legit hairloss drug ends Up improving Blood circulation to the scalp, getting the nutrients to the hair.
So if you want to try esoteric/alternative methods/supps etc keep Blood circulation in mind,Ecklonia cava is a Jack of all trades, recomended, its effects are a mix of fin with minox and antioxidant effects, one of the few legit supps for hairloss

I'm the anon who tried kickstarting a hair loss general but there wasn't enough interest.

To summarize as much as possible:

    - There are two FDA approved treatments (not cures, treatments) for hairloss. Finasteride and Minoxidil.

Finasteride is a 5ar inhibitor. It's the enzyme that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the hormone that kills your hair. DHT is useful in puberty but not really after that. The side effects come from the fact that you will have an excess of T (since less of it is being converted into DHT), so that T MIGHT aromatize into estrogen (woman hormone). However, 99% of healthy male bodies will simply adjust T production.

Minoxidil is a vasodilator. We don't really understand how it works, but it simulates hair growth. Topical is approved for hair growth, DO NOT take oral minoxidil.

Imagine hair loss is like a leaky bucket with a hole in the bottom. Finasteride covers the hole. Minoxidil pours in more water. Any other moron gay shit like scalp massages or peppermint oil is the equivalent of painting the bucket.

Feel free to ask me anything. I've been on fin for 1.5 years.

      Anonymous

DHT binds to the hair follicle depriving It of nutrients ,your analogy is very misleading, thats why fin and minox do very similar things in the end but the methods used are completely different.

        Anonymous

        How is it misleading?

Finasteride usually won't regrow your hair. Minoxidil will (though, if you ONLY use minoxidil you'll get a funky sea of baby hair on your head).

Does 0.25mg help at all or should i try start with higher dose?

My libido isn't through the roof and i don't have morning woods anymore at 28 yr old so thats why i'm thinking starting lower dose.

I started at 0.5mg for like a month before switching over to 1mg. Maybe it's not a bad idea to ease your way into the full dosage.

But a bunch of things affect your libido, so who knows. When I took fin I had crazy high libido for like 2 weeks before returning to base line.

          Anonymous

0.5mg every other day is functionally identical to 1mg per day in how it inhibits your DHT, it also causes a slower buildup in your system for potential side effects.

In theory you could even just do 0.5mg MWF for the same efficacy due to this.

Alright now the only consern is the cost of the drug (fricking 80e per month) if i had prescription for the 5mg one it would be over 10 times cheaper but my doctor said no to that.

            What I'd recc is this

            https://i.imgur.com/npVXYIa.png

            >Is this truly the only way to combat hair loss and thinning hair?
Yes. In most cases it will at least stop your hairloss if not slightly reverse it as the dying follicles gain a bit of health back.

            >Are there any side effects, and if so, how bad?
Yes. Somewhere between 4-15% of men get sexual side effects like low libido and ED, as well as some gyno, brain fog, aching balls.

            >Is it worth it?
If you don't get side effects yes. Losing your hair smashes your /10 by like 4-5 points for most women and 6-7 points for most girls 18-22 (the only girls that matter).

If you're considering it, go topical, start at 0.05% concentration. You can homebrew it cheaply with a minoxidil mix. There's literally no point in saturating your entire body in a drug just to get some in your scalp when you could just apply it to your scalp. It cuts your risk of sides by a lot.

make that shit into a topical blend, it will make it last longer. You can actually go as low as 0.005% concentration and it gives you results according to the earliest studies on topical fin. That will stretch your fin supply very, very long if you're on a budget. You will have to buy liquid minox but you can get a 6 month supply of that for like $60 it's dirt cheap by comparison.

Kinda moronic doctor. 5mg cut into fourths (1.25mg) is a common workaround. What country are you in?

how important is derma rolling in your estimation? I don't like the feeling kek
do you have pics on how much you regrew back?

Dermarolling is effective if paired with minoxidil IIRC. I don't do either, since I want to get the max benefit of finasteride before committing to minoxidil.

Here's a pic from when I started. Funny, I showed this to my brother, his gf, and my mom yesterday and they all said I improved. I'll take another pic real quick.

Hey bro, is it safe to use it being only 20? I'm scared I'm not old enough for it

            I started at 22.

Chances are you're physically mature at this point. Do you have a beard? Body hair? If so I'm guessing you're medically in the clear to go ahead and start. I would definitely consult a doctor and ask to do blood work first.

Go to a doctor for advice first, 20 is very young to be being worried about hair loss, sounds more like a psychological thing to me or perhaps stress related.

Some people lose their hair even before 20. I'm a high school teacher and I see students with male pattern baldness already starting. In a giant school of 2000+ kids I've even seen an 11th grader whose hair was progressed in MPB. It's rare but not that rare. In a sample size of thousands you'll get dozens of young men who show signs in their late teens.

I've had very nice results in my late 20's with oral fin + oral minox. Pic related. I'm been on 1.25mg Fin (5mg cut into 1/4) and 1.25mg minox. Got both as prescription from my doctor, minox is covered by my insurance by fin isn't but its only about $20 for a 100 day supply in my country (Canada). I've been on them for a few years now, I think 2+ but I'm not exactly sure. It took a long time before I had any noticeable regrowth but I stopped receding and my hair stopped falling out right away. It's not the greatest picture and the lighting is a bit different but the hair is thicker where is used to be very thin and patchy and I've got new regrowth very short hairs where there used to be nothing so I've gained some hairline back. I used to dermaroll for a couple months last year but stopped because my roller isn't the right size. I also use nizoral ketaconazole shampoo around once a week. The minox has also helped my shitty facial hair genetics, my mustache connects better and grows in thicker and darker but my beard is still kind of shit. Also yes I know I'm going gray, had gray hair since my early 20's.
The only side effect I've got is watery semen, my dick still works great. No trouble achieving or maintaining erections.

This study really kickstarted pumpkin seed oil as a natural option for hair growth.

Some people claim that is way superior than topical min (less hassel and better overall results). Some people claim that will frick with your heart.

Also if you recover your hairline with fin + min. If you stop min but maintain fin, will the new min hair fall off?

      >Some people claim that will frick with your heart.
      >some people claim
Black person it's not a fricking claim, it's literally what minoxidil is meant to do. the fricking hair growth crap is the "side effect".
minoxidil was made and is a cardiovascular medication first and foremost.
If you have heart problems, blood pressure problems, or are prone to erratic changes in the body in general. you don't want to take it excessively or in large dosages without consulting a doctor.

      Anonymous

      >Also if you recover your hairline with fin + min. If you stop min but maintain fin, will the new min hair fall off?
Yes. Minixidil gains are "zombie hairs" that are too weak to grow without min. If you stop min but keep taking fin, you will keep fin gains but lose min gains - so you will regress to where you'd be if you only ever took fin.

        Anonymous

What's the point of taking min then? Surely taking min indefinetly is not sustainable in the long term. It's too much of a hassle. It's not like taking a pill and done like fin.
I was hoping that by taking fin it would help some of those new min hair survive after discontinuing min.
How do people even recover their hairline indefinetly then? Fin prevents further falling but won't make major improvements.

          Anonymous

There are men who use topical min for years or decades, but if using min is too much of a hassle for you, you could try min foam.
          >How do people even recover their hairline indefinetly then?
Not many people do. The hairline usually responds the least to treatment (be it fin, min or both), so your best bet might be waiting to see if fin stabilized your hair loss and then getting a transplant.

Been shedding a lot lately. My hairline at the front is great, it's the top of my head that's affected. Started taking fin, been on it for 30 days but my hair is still shedding like a motherfricker. No side effects though. Am I a non-responder or should I keep going? When are the results supposed to kick in?

It takes months. You should expect noticeable gains at 3 months at the earliest, but it can happen later and you probably won't see the full results until 1-2 years in. Also increased shedding is normal when you start taking fin, but it stops after a while.

Once again, there are no side effects when used in appropriate application.
Appropriate application is that it must be used with a carrier oil as concentrated peppermint oil would burn your scalp.
However concentrated minoxidil would also burn your scalp.

So that's it? I just need to rub an essential oil on my scalp and that will keep my hairline?

            Please re-read what I said.
            Appropriate application.

You must use a carrier oil with it, otherwise the peppermint oil will burn your scalp before you had a chance to absorb it into your body.
This is true of most if not all topical medications, if you read the ingredient list they almost always have either an oil (organic) or petroleum based carrier to hold the medications.

There is a mixture ratio, I can't quite think of it off the top of my head, but something akin to for every 1 cup of carrier oil you can add 15-20 drops of peppermint oil (3% concentration).
You can find safe measurements online.

What this does is allow a little bit of the peppermint oil to be absorbed at a time. the oils will mix and turn on their own as all oils do.
You leave that on for a specific amount of time and afterwords wash your hair out.
Bonus points this is great for getting rid of fungal dandruff and makes your hair soft as frick.

I digress, it's a little greasy though and I don't recommend sleeping with the oil in your hair unless it's just a small area that you are touching up regularly.
If it's a large area, like your entire scalp that you're trying to stimulate? it's going to be a bit greasy.

Jojaba is the best for this, it's pretty damn close to human oils produced by the body and doesn't clog your skin as much as some others.

I do it every night to a small degree on my hairline rub this a little bit on.
For crown balding and whatnot, you'll want it pretty regularly.

Do you wash your hair with shampoo every day? I've tried it once and it does feel too greasy, and I can't shampoo every day because of seborrheic dermatitis since it fricks up my scalp.
Maybe I should try just rubbing a finger's worth over my hairline and hopefully it won't need shampoo to wash out.

      same with pumpkin seed oil.
A significant study about pumpkin seed oil and hair loss was published in 2014. It might be the most rigorous study on a plant-based hair growth alternative thus far.

this shit is used to regrow hair not to prevent hair loss. and it doesn't work for most people.
for prevention i use ketoconazole shampoo which destroys scalp testosterone and is very effective.

Bros, anyone have experience with uneven fin effects? I'm growing new hair at the temples but the front of my hairline is thinner than when I started with fin.

Been shedding a lot lately. My hairline at the front is great, it's the top of my head that's affected. Started taking fin, been on it for 30 days but my hair is still shedding like a motherfricker. No side effects though. Am I a non-responder or should I keep going? When are the results supposed to kick in?

How moronic are you, not everyone who happens to brows fit everyday needs to make a finastrid thread tailored to them. It’s the same info as the other 5 the last day. No one is going to come in and finally post a magic potion that immediately regrows hair with no downsides. If these where once every few days or so it would be less grating but come on it’s always the same info and there’s always like 3 in the catalog.

For real though it is best to just shave and accept it. Why poison yourself with israeli chemicals or embarrass yourself with a wig/hairpiece?

Smelly 17th fricks with disgusting wigs covering their syphilis ridden scalps ruined the tradition of wig wearing for the rest of us. I bet if wigs never took off back then, it wouldn't be such a social taboo to wear them now.

How much are you anons taking? I've been doing 1.25mg every other day and for ~3 months and lost A FRICKTON of hair now.

      Anonymous

Around 0.35mg (~0.7ml 0.05%) every day topically. Got no sides, less shedding and some regrowth.

  39. 1 year ago

Started on .25mg EOD a year ago. It stopped receding hairline and I got back my hair density. I was losing a shitton of hairs, literally shedding every day, that stopped.

Sides: Decreased libido, dick numbness. First weeks i got a libido increase, then went back to normal, then the sides started happening.

Today i started lowering the dosage to 0.125 (1/8 of a pill) EOD and if I still get sides to 0.0625.

My advice to anyone starting out is to start small. This drug is potent and it messes up with your endocrinal system, and it has to find ways to cope with the alterations, depending on your profile. Work from the smallest possible amount you can take, (1/16 imo) and work your way up if you don't find any sides. It takes around 1 month imo to see how you respond. Also, don't quit cold turkey, taper off if you're planning on doing it.

you put it onto your scalp not your hair, like the hair follicles, if you hair is too long on top you'll need to part your hair when applying it

      Anonymous

Use liquid minox dropper and keep it on your scalp and tap it around until you get coverage, then massage in with one hand from there. I've got hair coverage too and the foam stuff just doesn't work barely any of it gets to ground level, had to do liquid.

Been on for about a 6 months. Had amazingly thick hair and great genetics since I was a kid. Took a dumbass cycle of SR-23 and completely fricked myself. It single highhandedly saved my hair. I've lost about half of my volume, since after the cycle. There is a noticeable decrease in sexual desire at least for me. This wasn't really a problem as function is still fine, and I want prostitute a lot less now. I would recommend getting a Derminator 2 first if you're seriously considering going on Finasteride. It works, but it has it's costs.
