Garmin is bad. There are some people that have done lots of testing to examine how accurate the sensors/features are.

Apple Watch = best heart rate tracker

HUAWEI = 2nd best, so best for Android users

    Fitbit = best sleep tracker

None of the fitness trackers are actually great at doing anything, but Garmins are not great at anything. Unfortunate if you live in USA HUAWEI isn’t really a choice. If you are going to buy a serious fitness tracker and care about the heart rate + step counter + O2 your only real choices are Apple Watch and huawei. If you want a sleep tracker it’s Fitbit. Almost everything else is bad enough in everything else that you won’t get an accurate measurement. People will cope because they wasted money on expensive fitness trackers which people said were good, but people who actually go and test them always come to the results that Apple Watch + HUAWEI are the only actually good ones.

For some of these things this can change overtime. As new firmware updates fix some issues and new models may have significant improvements. As I know with the Venu 2 it has an accurate heart rate tracker if you do an activity where your arm doesn’t move (like indoor bike training) but it’s horribly inaccurate as soon as you have some movement, like running outside.

Wrist based heart sensors are trash. You buy a watch for its gps accuracy where dedicated fitness trackers excell.
If you want a fashionable accessory you buy apple

Apples wrist band heart rate tracker has near 100% accuracy, huawei is close to 95% now. The brands past them are lucky to break 80% in many tests.

HUAWEI only achieved this with their newest GT3 watches before that they were in the low 80%. Many other fitness trackers are sub 70% (so completely worthless). GPS tracking isn’t worth that much money, your phone has a gps and you can use that instead in most cases.

You obviously aren't active. Wrist sensors can't track well if you are doing any intense activity. That's the reason soccer players use chest straps for heart rate tracking and marathoners fitness watches for accurate distance measuring

Lots of people have tested this individually with all sorts of different activities. Apple Watch gives same results as a chest strap.

            Another android gay seething.

I guess that all those multimillionaire athletes with an army of professionals behind them didn't read this paper

You are moronic. Hmm let’s see you have the top standard in functional testing the chest strap which has been accurate for a long time, or you have a new device that only recently got similar accuracy. Of course professional athletes use a chest strap. But I guarantee you if you walk around with a chest strap everyone thinks you are a moronic homosexual. The post isn’t about the best chest straps, it’s about the accuracy of fitness trackers. Apple Watch is accurate, it shows this in studies and lots of individual tests that it is super comparable to a chest strap. You made the claim it’s not accurate but you can’t back it up. Do you also buy overpriced preworkouts because your favorite pro athlete shills it?

I don't trust a homosexual "research" over decades of use by professionals that care about results.

                Post body.

Since you seem to know a thing or two about this kind of watches, how good or bad does the Garmin Instinct 2 Solar look? For me, it being solar-powered is indispensable.

How it looks? To me it looks fine.

However it’s heart rate tracker is decent compared to others. So very bad. Around 83% accuracy when not active falls into the 70% range when active. This is good compared to many other watches but overall not reliable. It’s gps tracking is good, it’s O2 seems to track decreases in O2 but by how much it doesn’t seem to be so accurate. It’s sleep tracking is worthless like every other fitness tracker (except Fitbit)

Huawei and apple watch may have the best HR tracking, but afaik Garmin has far and away the best app/features.

    muh accuracy
yeah, cause that 6bpm makes such a difference. I guess I will hook myself up to ECG 24/7

I have an garmin instinct. I literally have no complaints about it, it’s plenty accurate, gps is good, altimeter is meh if you don’t calibrate cinstantly but otherwise it’s okay.
Oh also it has a 25day battery life.
The new one has an even more accurate hr tracker and even better tmbattery life, highly reccomend.

    I use it for
    >mtb
    >trail running
    >lifting
    >surfing/snowboarding
    >swimming

I have the fit bit versa which is MSRP £300, before this I had the mi band 3, and tbh I prefer the mi fit app and the mi band, I think it's better in everyway than the Fitbit except from the Fitbit has GPS but it is a smratwatch rather than a smartband

Do any of these things have a replaceable battery? I've been through 2 fitbits and im done buying disposable crap that will fail in less than 5 years.

If Casio can make a $10 watch that lasts decades then surely these c**ts can make a $100 watch that lasts the same length of time.
